Grade II Listed Farmhouse, Glastonbury (12 guests)
Our lovely old farmhouse is situated in the Vale of Avalon surrounded by apple orchards & gardens. Why not spend your evening watching the sunset from the pool or playing croquet as the BBQ sizzles nearby. The house benefits from wood burners in both the sitting rooms & the dining room. The electric Aga keeps the kitchen/breakfast room warm & welcoming space to gather in whatever the season. Outdoor Swimming pool + grass tennis & badminton courts. Our wonderful farmhouse was built in the 16th from the stones of Glastonbury Abbey. The elm beamed sitting room has an inglenook fireplace and wood burner. The farmhouse kitchen with its electric Aga overlooks the gardens, croquet lawn and BBQ. Off the kitchen is the dining room with a 12 seater table and woodburner. We have six double bedrooms, four upstairs and tow downstairs. There is a bathroom with overhead shower upstairs. One bedroom upstairs has its own sink & WC. One of the bedrooms downstairs has a double bed and single bed with a shower room outside its door. The other double bedroom is in the annex (cottage) which is accessed from the lobby (oak door separates it) and leads into a sitting room with kitchen area followed by the bedroom with its en-suite shower room. The two ground floor bedrooms and their shower rooms are suitable for elderly people and we understand that there is nothing suitable with this accommodation nearby. In the garden we have a 30'x15'x4' outdoor pool ( June - August/ September but check for earlier availability). Note, the swimming pool is not fenced. There are sun beds, steamer chairs, table and chairs as well as a hammock in the garden. We also have some bbq's for you to use. The farmhouse is set in a working countryside environment where, depending on the season, you will see & hear tractors driving along the country road, cows and flocks of sheep in the fields opposite. We also have our own sheep and chickens that roam freely here. Our horses live in the paddocks and the stables. Closer by are the friendly chickens who will call by during the day! You have full access to the grounds but be mindful of the horses that are stabled nearby. Our guests, in particular, children must not enter the stables for obvious health and safety reasons. We request that children must be accompanied when they are out in the garedens. There is plenty of parking outside. Glastonbury and Street is 10 minutes by car, approximately 45 minute walk.
