Host fully available. Evolène is a stunning Swiss alpine village full of charm and character. It has traditional cafes, bars and restaurants as well as local shops and outdoor stores (including equipment rental). The village centre is 10 minutes walk from the chalet. It is a wonderful place to relax and soak in beautiful scenery but is also an amazing location for outdoor activities all year round: WINTER: downhill (alpine) skiing at the resorts of Arolla, Evolène and La Forclaz; nordic skiing; snow shoeing (raquettes); winter walking; ice climbing; and ski touring (peau de phoque). SUMMER: hundreds of hiking trails (of all standards) in the Val d'Hérens and connecting to nearby valleys (Val d'Anniviers, Verbier and Zermatt); mountain biking; rock climbing; paragliding; and relaxing! Evolène is a 20 minute drive from Sion. The chalet, the village and all the Val d'Hérens are also well serviced by public transport. The bus stop is a 5 minute walk from the chalet on a small road (cleared of snow in winter). For day trips it is easy to take the bus further up the valley to the villages of La Safe, La Forclaz, Les Haudères, and Arolla.
