Beautiful Converted Rural Barn Wild Swimming.

The village of Planezes is 40 minutes from the sea and 30 minutes from Perpignan airport. The beautiful "fenouilledes" valley has vineyards , wild hills and river swimming. The house is a comfortable conversion of an old shepherds barn with a huge internal courtyard ,a well equipped kitchen , and a magical atmosphere. We provide information for the best wild swimming spots, beach destinations and local food . My place is good for couples, families with kids, and well-behaved dogs . This has been a family holiday house for 20 years since it was converted from a sixteenth century shepherds barn and other buildings full of character and charm. All on the ground floor ,there are multiple spaces linked by garden or internal courtyards. It is fully equipped for internal and external living .Two of the four sleeping spaces have airconditioning/heating units installed. There is a outdoor ping pong table and the huge internal terrace provides a fantastic safe play area for young kids .The property is set behind gates and with gardens front and back provides good external space and privacy. the whole property is accessible to guests apart from one small storage room. Guests will be looked after by a local friend Marie-Alice Lesecq who lives 3 minutes away in the village. She or I are generally available to answer questions by telephone. This area is part of French Catalonia close to both sea (40 minutes ) ,skiing (font romeu 90 minutes) ,and Cathar country with its dramatic mountain castles (Queribus 20 minutes). It benefits from 250 days of sunshine a year thanks to the Tramontagne wind which sweeps the clouds away. It is easily accessible by air : Perpignan 30 minutes, Girona and Carcassone 70 minutes, Montpellier 90 minutes, Barcelona Toulouse 120 minutes. Good wine and food are to be found everywhere in charming hill villages or in beach restaurants overlooking the Mediterranean. We tend to spend the holidays in a great mixture of external trips/visiting(mountain walks, historic building visits, wine tasting and restaurants, days at the sea or just local chilling by the village river which has clean water through the year thanks to a reservoir 10 kilometers away in the upper valley. Barcelona is possible for a day trip thanks to the new fast train from Perpignan and the mountain towns/villages of Spanish Catalonia near Figueres or Girona are easily accessible by car. there is parking for two cars within the gated front yard. public transport is limited but there are daily buses to Perpignan and a good local taxi service. (TAXI AGLY) As we do not charge a cleaning fee guests are expected to leave the property in a tidy state on departure.
