Cockatoo Corner: Blue Mountains

Cosy studio cottage off the main road A comfy studio cottage with a verandah looking over the bush. Self contained, peaceful and private. There is abundant bird life in the bush, cockatoos, lyrebirds, kookaburras, rosellas, king parrots to name a few. They will be happy to wake you in the morning with their singing. You might be lucky to see the local wallaby in the coolness of the morning. The studio is one large room and has a queen size bed that folds up into the wall to give you plenty of room during the day, a cozy sitting area with a lounge that converts to a fold-out double sofa bed, a fully equipped kitchenette (with Convection Microwave) and a large bathroom with a washing machine. There is an air conditioner to keep you warm in winter and to keep you cool in summer. We will provide you with clean sheets and fresh towels. If you intend to use the sofa bed as well, please advise us so we can make up the bed and put a quilt in the cupboard ready for your visit. Other items we have for your use: Convection Microwave, hot plate, fridge, hair dryer, kettle, toaster and free wifi. Cockatoo Corner is next door to our house and has a separate access to the studio cottage with car parking outside the front door. Instructions will be sent to you to gain entry so you can go straight in and make yourself at home. If we are available we will 'meet and greet' you on your arrival, show you around and we are happy to chat and tell you about the Blue Mountains area. We live in the house beside the studio and we can be contacted there during your stay. We will leave you alone to enjoy your break away. If you have a problem you can pop next door and knock on the front door. Springwood/Winmalee area has the best climate in NSW. It is a 5-minute drive to the townships of Springwood and Winmalee and both have great village atmosphere with lots of character and varied eating establishments. Numerous restaurants, 3 pubs, 1 Sports Club (bistro), two supermarkets, an 18 hole golf course, an art gallery (open Fri, Sat, Sun), great bookshops new and used, terrific range of cafes, a library, occasional musicals, local markets, banks, a local swimming pool nearby and many bush walks and mountain bike tracks. Springwood train station is a 30 min walk, 5 min drive. Trains to/from Sydney or to/from Upper Mts are every hour, more frequent at commuter times. There is also a bus service at the end of our street to take you to the station or shops if you need. Sydney is only an hour and twenty minutes away. We are only a 15 min drive to Glenbrook National Park, 30min to Wentworth falls, with spectacular water falls and bush walks. Katoomba is a 40min drive, for the Three Sisters and the scenic railway. Penrith, with shopping malls, bowling alley, cinemas and many other venues is a 25min drive. Richmond/Windsor are also a 25min drive. So you can see we are only a short drive to many wonderful and exciting suburbs. If your driving, we are easily reached via the M4 motorway and Great Western Highway and the parking is right in front of the cottage. $20 fee for extra guests over 2 applies to all extra guests aged over 2. STRICTLY No Smoking on the property. Access to our cottage is best by private car. There is parking on the property next to cottage and it is easy to drive to all the places that you require. Although public transport is available, it is more difficult to get around as it is a 30 minute walk to train station and buses are not super frequent. We have one small dog on our property but he does not come anywhere near the cottage at all.
