Vintage "Landhaus Rosa" near Weimar

Our German-American family would be so pleased to invite you into our home. Our charming, 200-year-old guest house is just a few minutes away from the historic town of Weimar. Home to Goethe and Schiller, Bauhaus and rich with culture, there is so much to see and do in this area. We have lovingly renovated our little cottage, framed by roses and furnished with antiques, melding the old-world with a touch of the modern. We hope that each of our guests feels at home. You can't build an old house. Our very old home is like a person-with its wrinkles, bumps, oddities and unique character. The ceilings are quite low on the upper floor in the bedrooms, so beware. The beds were shipped from the States and are from my very own youth, having waited just as I have, to finally find their own place so far from home. The two full-sized beds measure 140cm x190cm, but have thick 30cm mattresses topped with memory foam. All the beds and linen are suitable for anyone with allergies. We have games and Netflix available should the weather keep you indoors. The roof terrace can be a place to have a cup of coffee outside while you watch the kids on our private playground with its trampoline, slide, swings and sandbox. Our two houses are separated only by a stone-flagged yard which flows then into our garden which has a playground, yet many opportunities for relaxation. Whether you unwind in the hammock, have a cup of tea in one of our seating areas or take advantage of our yoga mat in a quiet corner of our garden, I hope there is something for everyone. A BBQ grill is at your disposal if you feel like enjoying one of our famous Thuringian bratwursts! An herb garden is right in front of the house too for any dishes you might like to cook. Or feel free to ask for a bike! There are so many lovely bike paths right around our home. We live on the premises so we are usually available for any questions that might pop up. Feel free to join us for a cup of coffee and a nice chat or enjoy yourself on your own private terrace. I have a lot of hobbies such as singing, painting, photography and baking so feel free to join in, order my famous cheesecake or ask me to take a few family photos. I could even be convinced to make you an american breakfast if I have the time. I love guests and the most important thing for us is for you to feel at home. Our little village of Großobringen has a mere population of about 900. There are, however, two restaurants serving German food here within walking distance. A little traveling bakery stops nearly in front of our home on Wednesday and Friday mornings as does a butcher! That is very special indeed! There is a shopping center just 2.5 km away and could even be easily reached by bike. I've been told the best ice cream place is a short bike ride away in Buttelstedt and there is a petrol station in our village that sells fresh rolls and a few other necessities in a pinch. The bus stop is just around the corner and the buses which go regularly can get you to the main station in Weimar in just 10 minutes or to the center of Weimar in 15 minutes. Traveling by car can be more comfortable if you plan on staying out late or for the athletic type, take a bike! We are willing to pick you up as well if you happen to need a lift and we are available.
