COVID 19 - ACCEPTING BOOKINGS (but still on ‘request to book’ basis atm) Arrow Brick House is a cute 2 bedroom house set on 12 secluded acres in the beautiful green rolling hills above Port Arthur. Only a 5 minute drive to the historic site but you'll feel miles away from anyone. See wildlife, thousands of stars and the Tasman lighthouse at night from the verandah and then settle in for a romantic night by the wood fire. An enchanting getaway perfect for those with an adventurous spirit. Cute and cosy cabin in the hills featuring: * Stunning views across the water to Three capes walk and Tasman Lighthouse. *2 cosy bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with two single beds (all with electric blankets); * Well equipped kitchen with gas cooking (no dishwasher); * You will generally find the following available for your stay: premium loose leaf teas and hot chocolate, instant coffee, salt, pepper, olive oil, long life milk, various sauces and spices, plus pots of herbs growing outside. * Slow combustion fireplace, aircon and portable heater * Indoor bathroom with shower and basin and separate toilet room (it is ‘well ventilated’ and rustic) * Outdoor bath and chairs to sit out on the verandah and take in the view. * Lots of wildlife! Birds during the day and lots of wallabies at night. * Like the whole Tasman region all water is tank water. It’s clean Tassie rain water but it’s not filtered so you may wish to bring drinking water or boil water for drinking. You might also want to bring fresh milk and your choice of coffee. * Heaps of books, games and magazines for a cosy night inside by the fire. * Lots of room to park your car next to the house. * Fence around the house and shed. The whole 12 acres are yours to explore. The property is bordered by Gwen road at the front, the creek in the gully on the right hand side (as you look at the view from the verandah), the neighbours’ driveway on the left, and the fence behind the paddock at the back of the house. I’m not on site but can answer any questions before your stay and you’ll also find contact details for local lady, Cheryl who can assist with anything during your stay. During daylight hours (generally between 10-2), occasionally tradespeople may come over unannounced to do maintenance on the property (just be aware so you don’t unexpectedly get caught out in the bath!) Please do get in touch if you want to raise anything during your stay. The Tasman Peninsula has many beautiful sights. The stunning 3 Capes Walk is close by and there are beautiful beaches and walks in the area. Port Arthur historic site is a 5 minute drive away. Make sure you stay long enough to enjoy all the area has to offer and to get a chance to really unwind! (3 nights is ideal!) There is no public transport and a car is required. The house is 1hr, 15 mins from the airport and 1 hr 30 mins from Hobart. It’s strongly recommended to arrive during daylight hours because there are no streetlights and there is a lot of wildlife on the road (most of it in my street lol). Within a 5-10 minute drive from the house is Port Arthur historic site (including their excellent restaurant 1830 - book ahead), the 3 Capes walk, Remarkable Cave, Safety Cove Beach, 2 general stores and a laundromat. Other highlights of the peninsula include the Unzoo (for native animals including Tasmanian Devils), the Lavender Farm, Osborne Helicopter tours, McHenry’s distillery, Eaglehawk Neck, White Beach and Coal Mines Historic Site. 1. Mobile coverage is good with Telstra and now mostly fine for Optus but limited to non existent for Vodafone and other providers. 2. The closest big supermarket is at Sorell but there are 2 IGAs at Nubeena. You may wish to buy water to drink as the water is unfiltered rain water. 4. If driving from the north go through Sorrell rather than through the state forest on weingatta road unless you have a 4wd. 5. In the summer months you’ll need to make reservations for dinner as places book out. 6. Smoking is allowed outside only. Please use ashtray and don’t litter.
