The Little House a cosy cottage in West Meon

Situated in the area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) of the South Downs National Park, nestled within its rolling hills & panoramic views sits The Little House in the pretty village of West Meon. Small but perfectly formed with fully equipped kitchen & lounge area with TV, DVD and Wi-Fi. One bedroom with double bed & fold out mattress. Shower room loo & sink. Outside seating for dining BBQ available with coals. Ideal for cycling or country walks right on the doorstep. Off road parking. Within walking distance is the village community shop, The Thomas Lord pub and Buckingham’s artisan butchery. The Little House is an ideal get away for a couple wanting to explore the Meon valley and surrounding areas. Can also accommodate a third person on a fold out mattress. The house is very compact (also very cute!) and comes with a small porch to hang coats and remove walking boots, opening into a small living, dinning and well-equipped kitchen, with all the essentials for making snacks or a walking/cycling picnic to a full-blown evening meal. Ideal for both summer and winter breaks, relax in the evenings outside looking at the stunning views with a cold glass of something or outdoor dining, BBQ available & coals supplied, for winter evenings, settle down in front of the cosy log burner ideal for when the nights draw in. The house is fully equipped with outdoor seating & Wi-Fi and gravel drive for parking. There is a spiral staircase (as pictured) to the 1st floor so we would advise packing holiday clothes and essentials into soft bags and no suitcases. Unfortunately, the house has no wheelchair or restricted walking access. We also live in West Meon and so are on hand for any help or advice on walking local pubs etc. Can collect groceries from the Community shop or Butchers if necessary to help for your arrival. 2 days prior to your arrival we will send the details for The Little House along with the key safe code. You will have the place to yourselves! For a nice easy evening meal, a short stroll away is The Thomas Lord, a great pub serving food (must book as often very busy) or head slightly further afield to one of the many other pubs in the Meon Valley. The village also has a community shop for picking up any daily essentials (can ring & order a delivery) and an artisan butchery for BBQ’s or any treats that you may fancy. Those wishing the explore the surrounding areas further can choose to walk or cycle the disused Meon Valley railway, which stretches for 10 miles south from West Meon through more villages towards Titchfield and the coast or walk the beautiful South Downs Way National Park Winchester to Brighton. The cathedral cities of Winchester and Chichester are within half an hour drive, both with historic interest as well as more shops and restaurants. There are a few National Trust properties in Hampshire such as the local Hinton Ampner House & Gardens, Selborne for Gilbert White’s house or the Common and Butser Ancient Farm which is an archaeological site. Please note that you will need a car to get to West Meon and for travelling around the area unless cycling. There is a local bus route from Winchester to Petersfield that runs Monday to Saturday but limited times. Taxis can be ordered from Petersfield but can be expensive. There are many cycling/walking routes around the immediate area and for guest use there are some walking books etc. in The Little House.
