Le Nid at Chy an Pol 1 of 2 idyllic rural gîtes.

Le Nid is one of a set of 2 delightful 3 bedroomed rural gîtes in sunny south west France. Nestled in a valley 5kms from L’Absie in the Deux-Sèvres. We have our own swimming pool, wildlife pond and hectare of land where the only sounds you can hear are birdsong, frogs the wind in the trees and possibly a tractor in the distance. You may even catch a glimpse of a red squirrel. Bounded by a stream surrounded by farmland and from the grounds you can access walking and cycling routes. Pets Maximum of 2 dogs only If you have up to two very well behaved dogs that you like to take on holiday, we will consider them being added to the booking. This is strictly by prior arrangement & incurs an additional cost. You have your own gite with front door key & all amenities. Outside is shared with ourselves & other guests, this includes the pool, garden & pond. Ourselves Pauline & Rod live on site and so are available to answer questions and to help you settle in. We would love to share with you our home and the beautiful area we live in. We only moved here in November 2018 and already love it so much. The site had been neglected for a few years so we are refreshing and updating all the accommodation as well as trying to tame the garden and establish a vegetable garden for all to enjoy. This autumn we plan to start restoring the ¼ acre pond a large project we will be hoping to add a walk way around it and a dipping platform for children. Also living here are Penny the “meet and greet” cat, Poppy an elderly springer spaniel and Max the collie who will love you if you play ball with him (all day). Also, our chickens who hopefully will provide eggs for you during your stay. The nearest village L'Absie is a delightful village with everyday amenities most importantly a bakery where you can purchase delicious croissants, a small supermarket, fuel, hairdressers, pharmacy, Doctors, several bistros and eating places and more than 7 places to get a cup of coffee. If you wish to explore further afield we are only 50mins from the Puy de Fou France's world renowned historical theme park, 1hr 15 min from La Rochelle and 24 mins from the mediaeval town of Vouvant one of the most beautiful villages in France called a Petite cité de caractère. From there it is a very short drive to Mervent with its Lake and 5,000 hectare forest with 200kms of marked walks, cycle and horse riding trails. The Marais Poitevin is a Regional natural park of 100,000 hectares of protected wetland often referred to as the “Green Venice” Here you can boat, walk, hike observe the wildlife and explore the surrounding villages. If you like fishing the world class fishing lakes Pecalis are 15Km away there are 2 golf courses within half an hour, horse riding and parcours a similar distance and the Lac de Chassenon with sandy beaches and associated facilities for all the family. Will a week be long enough to fit it all in? Step out the door and you can be on walking or cycling routes (we have a few bikes that we can lend you). We are still learning the routes and will share that knowledge with you. So many other places are just a short drive away the roads are never busy and traffic jams, queuing and car park charges virtually unheard of.
