Daylesford, Musk Farm House
This family farm home was built with entertainment in mind. There are 5 bedrooms. The dorm has 2 double bunks, one king single bed and 2 trundle beds. There are 3 double rooms, each with a queen bed. The 5 th bedroom has one single bed plus 2 single extra long beds. There are 2.5 bathrooms, one with bath and separate shower, the other with shower. Perfect for civilised group weekends away; artist designed each window frames the garden magically. 5 mins drive to Daylesford The house was designed around an open plan kitchen, dining and living room - with about six different views to the garden and land outside. Each frames a precious glimpse, it's worth taking the time to see, with the log fire burning in winter. The expanse can feel holy (vaulted ceilings) with the right music, and if it's raining and you're in love there is nothing better. There is a totally removed second living space for those intent on a different vibe, children for example, men perhaps. You can set up the table tennis table under the carport down this end of the house. Jumping on the trampoline in the open space for 10 minutes a day is therapeutic. The coffee machine means you never really have to leave. The beds are all really comfortable; this was set up as a home before being listed for guests. The bath is lovely, plenty of hot water. The space is easily warmed up in winter (underfloor heating, wall heaters, open fire). The property has two dwellings and the owners or guests often use the other dwelling, respecting your privacy. The other dwelling, Musk Farm Cottage, is also listed with Airbnb (2 additional bedrooms, one bathroom, large living space, kitchenette. Taken together the property can accommodate 20 people). Smoke detector alarms batteries replaced January 5, 2019. You have access to the whole house, the 9 acre house block and 100 acres of farmland - respecting farm activities and the need to close any paddock gates that you open. There are two large dams on the 100 acres that the hosts can show you to if requested, that are suitable for some canoeing / paddling. There are some bush walks directly from the land into the Wombat State Forest, starting with a gate near the road corner heading into the forest up a fire access track. This track is also a good start for horse rides (if you have one!) or mountain bikes. I will be available if required, via phone or email, and otherwise allow privacy. The property has two dwellings and the owners or guests often use the other dwelling, respecting your privacy. The other dwelling, Musk Farm Cottage, is also listed with Airbnb. The Musk House was built in 2003 by a talented local artist. The farm is currently 110 acres and produces 200 lambs a year. Daylesford is a 5 minute drive from the property. Daylesford is a spa town located in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, within the Shire of Hepburn, Victoria, Australia, approximately 115 kilometres north-west of Melbourne. First established in 1852 as a gold-mining town, today Daylesford has a population of 2,565 as of the 2011 census. As one of Australia’s few spa towns, Daylesford is a notable tourist destination. The town’s numerous spas, restaurants and galleries are popular alongside the many gardens and country-house-conversion styled bed and breakfasts. The broader area around the town, including Hepburn Springs to the north, is known for its natural spring mineral spas and is the location of over 80 per cent of Australia's effervescent mineral water reserve. (from Wikipedia). If you are looking for something a little more strenuous than relaxing and being pampered, there is a plethora of options in Daylesford and Hepburn Springs. ActivityRoad cyclists will certainly appreciate the relative lack of traffic and scenic routes to cycle out to nearby towns like Creswick, Clunes, or Trentham. And the Daylesford/Hepburn Springs region also has a lot to offer to off-road cyclists, with the Wombat Forest perfect for mountain biking. There are hundreds of tracks with spine tingling downhill runs and jumps along the many logging trails. It is a great day to drive to the Radio Springs Hotel (URL HIDDEN) then ride your bike (easy 10km ride one way) along the disused railway track to Trentham for lunch then back for a quiet drink with the locals at the Hotel. Just a few kilometres south of the main street, Lake Jubilee is very popular spot for picnickers and fishing. The lake is a designated family fishing location and its deep spring-fed waters are regularly stocked throughout the year. It’s a good walk arount it too. The Peace Mile walk around Lake Daylesford is a treat, especially in the morning as mist swirls off the surface of the serene waters. Another way to enjoy the lake is to hire a paddle boat. Don’t swim in though as old mineshafts create dangerous swimming conditions. There is a pool in town, or paddle only at the area near the old change rooms. If you like trains don’t miss the Sunday market – with hourly rides on the heritage carriages - to Musk! The golf course in Hepburn Springs gives you the opportunity to share one of Victoria’s prettiest 18-hole courses with the resident kangaroos. Walking along rows of lavender, tasting sumptuous food and taking part in relaxing outdoor games are just a few of the other activities on offer. (URL HIDDEN) Restaurants There are many famous restaurants around; dont forget that Alla Wolf-Tasker (The Lakehouse) also has a cafe and store nestled in the Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens; and our picks Kazuki’s; Moor Please Eatery and Winebar (Hepburn Springs); Reubens for gluten free pizza (good last minute take away option); The Perfect Drop; and you must have dinner at the local, The Farmers Arms. The nearest train station is Woodend, but you need to drive there to pick people up if they're coming up by train. I suppose there is a bus network but realistically you need a car. Portacot and highchair available on request. House bedroom configuration : 3 bedrooms each with queen bed, fourth bedroom with one single and 2 single extra long beds, plus bunk room with 4 bunk beds, 2 trundle beds and one king single bed.
