The village has always had very little visitors; it’s not a touristic area. That is the reason why many of us like it. Cagnoletti is a historical village but in an advances state of abandon. The village is very calm and local population is not used to tourism. It’s the ideal place for those who love nature, silence and simple things. In case of snow, the main road leading to Sondrio is always promptly swiped and, although perhaps not immediately, so is the small road climbing to the church but we suggest in any case to have snow chains in your car. Inside the house you will find maps for strolls and excursions. We personally suggest: 1.From Triangia, follow for Ligari and towards the lake. 2.Val Masino and Val di Mello 3.All of the shelters (“rifugi”) whose paths begin in San Giuseppe and Chiareggio. 4.Small strolls if bad weather is risking: Rusca pathway (take it in front of Valdone restaurant): to the right towards Sondrio, to the left towards Torre di Santa Maria, Chiesa Valmalenco and other villages. Restaurants we recommend: Prato (directly on the road leading to Chiesa; “Agriturismo degli Asinelli”, going in direction San Giuseppe; tavern in Ligari. Grocery and shopping: if you have a car; “Lidl” on the road from Sondrio to Milano, is very cheap. In Torre di Santa Maria, you may also find groceries (including an excellent butcher next to the bridge over the river) but, of course, less cheap. HOW TO ARRIVE TRAIN: Milano – Sondrio, stop “Sondrio”. Follow indications for the car parking. Bus in direction “Chiesa di Valmalenco” (most of the times in coincidence with trains from Milano) and ask to be left at Cagnoletti. Bus stop is in front of “Valdone” restaurant. Tickets may be bought on bus. BY CAR: From Milano; follow direction Lecco – Colico. SS street N° 36 – 38. Follow indications for “Valtellina – Sondrio”. You will pass through Masino, Morbegno, Colorina. Exit at the first signal to Sondrio (Website hidden by Airbnb) soon as entering Sondrio, you will find a roundabout with a fountain: take the road on the left (S.P. n° 15). Follow the road for about 5 Km, through several villages, always straight (direction Chiesa di Valmalenco) Just after passing a modern bridge, turn left after the panel “Cagnoletti”, you will notice “Valdone” restaurant. Drive up the small road until the small church and park there. Leaving the church behind you, take the stone pathway climbing up. From the car to the house it won’t take five minutes but it’s quite steep especially in the last stretch. We remind to chose your luggage with care. The house is the last one at your right before entering the wood path. The entrance door is the one on the balcony looking towards the mountain.
