On the Skye Trail, Shepherd's hut with magnificent views of the Cuillins, and the island of Rum. Nearby boat trips take you to the islands of Rum, Canna and Loch Coruisk. There is a local pod at the pier serving coffees, cakes etc. seafood sandwiches and ice-cream, weather permitting. (Website hidden by Airbnb) The Elgol Bistro sells takeaway food, and will open indoors when restrictions allow. (Website hidden by Airbnb) Supermarkets, petrol, diesel and numerous restaurants are in nearby Broadford (15 miles) The Shepherd's Hut has a double bed with en-suite shower room. It's living space, bedroom and kitchen are a combined space,as is common with Shepherd's Huts.It has a drop down table, stools ,logburner, electric heater, fridge, toaster, microwave with combination oven and two ring hob. There is a DVD player with a wide selection of films and a radio. WIFI is available in the Shepherd's hut. There is a decking area with seating and a table, BBQ facilities if required. I live in the house nearby where I have an attic room en-suite which can sleep 3, this is listed separately. My family and relatives have lived in this area for generations. I like to communicate with my guests and offer advice before their arrival, to make sure they have the best experience. I have a friendly collie dog named Canna. Bonnie Prince Charlie's cave is within walking distance and the Spar cave nearby, approachable at low tide. There are also Druid Standing Stones at nearby Strathaird and a popular walk to Camusunary where there is a bothy. The Elgol shoreline boasts an amazing "honeycomb rock /cliff" and is a well-loved landmark. Buzzards are regular visitors as are hen harriers. The local deer are tame and are frequent visitors to the village. The Elgol Shop is open Monday to Saturday in High Season, limited days Low Season , serving home baking, seafood rolls and soup etc. Crafts and groceries. The old graveyard at Kilmarie and the nearby ruins of Dunringall castle are also worth a visit. A car is the best way to get around. There is a bus Monday to Friday. See Stagecoach timetable online. There is a dehumidifier and tumble dryer in the nearby property where I can dry clothes for guests if the Skye weather is rainy.
