Welcome to Waikawa

Our cosy self-contained studio is warm, clean and homely. Ideal for a solo traveller or couples. The Studio is only an 8 minute drive from Picton and the ferry (approx. 4kms), the cafes, restaurants, bars, aquarium, museum and the gateway to the Queen Charlotte Sounds. Enjoy the many walks, bike tracks and choice of boat cruises on offer from the Picton foreshore, or simply use our place as a convenient ferry stopover. Blenheim is only a 35 min drive if you want to explore further afield. Our self-contained private studio (separate from host's house) has: - an open plan bedroom/dining/kitchenette space - free WiFi - Freeview TV - Apple TV (your login required for Netflix/Amazon Prime) - a heater and extra bedding for those colder nights - private bathroom with a vanity, shower and toilet - kitchenette with microwave, hotplate cook top, fridge, kettle, toaster and cooking/dining essentials. We provide complimentary tea, coffee, milk, sugar and a basic breakfast starter pack. Guest Access The studio is set back off the road (away from any road noise) down a short, sealed driveway to your own parking area - all on the flat with ample room to turn around. (This is a shared driveway with our neighbours. Please drive carefully as children may be playing). Ample parking space for car and small boat (approx 5-6 metres). There are table and chairs outside the studio in the garden area and an outdoor deck you are welcome to use to enjoy the sunshine. Please feel free to sample any of the edible produce in the veggie garden (in season). Other things to note On the odd occasion we are not available onsite arrangements and contact details will be provided to ensure you have access. Ferry pick up and drop off may be available on request for foot travellers (subject to other commitments and reasonable hours). Bikes and Kayaks can be made available (for use at your own risk). We live at the property and are happy to be available for any help and information on local facilities. Ask any questions anytime. For personal reasons we have taken the decision that we require all guests sharing our home to be fully vaccinated and to provide their vaccination pass either in advance or on arrival. We respect that not everyone holds the same views and that personal choice is important, but please don't be offended if we decline your booking if you choose not to be vaccinated. Under current Covid guidelines we require all guests to scan our QR code on arrival. If you are unable to do so for any reason please let us know. Hand sanitiser is also provided. Waikawa is a lovely, peaceful suburb of Picton. Beautiful Waikawa Bay and Marina is a short stroll away (access the marina and The Jolly Roger bar/restaurant on foot via Nautique Place). Ours is a quiet residential area. We request that you are respectful of our neighbours and drive slowly on the driveway. You will ideally need your own transport to get around, but for foot travellers we can help with ferry pick up and drop of on request, subject to availability/other commitments. We would love to host you for your stay. However when requesting we do like to know a little bit more about the people we are sharing our home with. Please ensure that your guest profile tells us a little bit about yourself so that we can accept your reservation far more quickly.
