The entry keys are in a key safe and the code will be available to visitors with booking. The self contained unit is 49 square meters in area and completely separate from the main house, Ideal to get away from everyone if needed! Being a Queenslander house, the unit makes up the whole bottom floor, underneath the main residence, and has three exits that are nowhere near the main house. It has a completely separate garden area and the only common space is the parking area. Only 5 kilometres from the Midland Hospital. Look forward to respectful and quiet guests, who are very welcome to interact with main home owner if they wish. It is an ideal area to be completely remote from anyone if that is required. Be aware that the two Bandicoots, Nigel and Daniel, who are very friendly (keep the back door closed or they will be inside in a shot), are completely harmless, and would love a piece of bread! Darlington is a quaint village, with very welcoming residents, located in the lovely Darling Range in the hills east of Perth, with three Café's, a Bottle shop, Post Office and gift shop. There is a village Oval with footy and cricket played at the weekend, depending on seasons. There are food trucks on a Friday and a Saturday, dependant on the weather. Darlington was home to D H Lawrence for a short time in a guest house in 1922! From 6-18 May, 1922 D.H. Lawrence stayed in a guest house at Darlington in the Perth Hills. We are a five minute walk to the village centre where The Darlington Arts Festival happens. This is a fantastic, arts and crafts, music, dance, kids fete / camel and horse rides, bars, food and drinks stalls, held in early November every year. In nearby Glen Forrest, three kilometres up the trail, there are a couple of restaurants, a couple of gift shops and there is a very friendly lawn bowls club that welcomes visitors. You can borrow bowls at the bar. Try your hand at lawn bowls! It's fun for the whole family! They also have two pool tables and darts. The Club opens every day at 4.30 pm. Midland Station by Perth Bus to #322 to stop 14973 which is 100 yards from the property, with Midland Train Station is 15 minutes away, by bus #322 from stop 14978, from this rural destination. **Check bus times on Perth Transit website. Perth is 30 minutes away by train. If you are here to cycle / walk, then the Perth Hills cycle trail is 150 yards away from the house! A great ride in both directions, offering a trail for both the beginner, and also the more serious rider. By car (or also by bike, taking the trail) there are restaurants in Glen Forrest (4 kms East), Mundaring (10 kms East), Greenmount Hill (4 kms West), Midland (5 kms West). There are several restaurant menus on the fridge door, so the choice is yours! SEPTIC SYSTEM - we are NOT on the mains septic system. We therefore have to operate on our own septic system, for which we request that you help us care for it and keep it healthy by flushing only toilet paper, and that disposing of other items, such as hygiene products (sanitary napkins, other non degradeable products, cooking oil etc) in the bags and bins provided, for correct disposal in the trash. Home Security - for our personal safety and security, please be aware that there are several digital video security cameras around the exterior of the property, front and back. Whilst we have never had any security issues in the street, this is a only a preventative measure. During this COVID 19 crisis please use the cleaning and sanitising chemicals, as required, and which are found under the kitchen sink. There are also face masks available for cleaning and any emergency that may crop up.
