The Roost Merthyr Tydfil is a small self-catering cabin site tucked away in a quiet spot. Our location and set up are perfect for bikers, hikers and outdoor lovers. Our bespoke, cosy cabins sleep two adults and two children. They have big comfy beds, separate allocated kitchens and shower rooms, heaters, power and in-cabin bike/equipment/gear storage. BikePark Wales is a short ride away, we're on the Taff Trail (cycle route 8) and a short drive from the Brecon Beacons National Park. Our gated cabin and campervan site, The Roost Merthyr Tydfil, has five cabins and campervan spaces. The Roost is available for exclusive hire, please get in touch if would like to find out more about this. Coronavirus: For the safety of guests and staff, please note: - each group is now allocated a shower room and kitchen area - base sheets and mattress protectors will be provided but no duvets, pillows or towels - all spaces will be cleaned and sanitised prior to check-in but we will not clean your cabin/kitchen/shower room again until you have checked-out - all non-essential items have been removed including board games, headboard cushions, welcome packs etc - group bookings are subject to any Welsh Government rules on extended households, bubbles etc. Each cabin has a small double sized bunk bed (4ft wide) so spacious for single occupancy and great for sharing too. A futon mattress is also available by request. Cabins have in-cabin storage areas for bikes, gear, muddy boots etc. There’s also a table with stools, a heater, lighting and power/usb sockets. WiFi is available around the site. Our facilities are no longer shared. Each group is allocated: - A shower room with loo, sink and shower; the shower rooms have keypad entry (situated in the facilities cabin so not ensuite (our new cabin Arosfa is ensuite)) - A covered kitchen area with all the essential equipment (situated in the facilities cabin) There are various outdoor seating areas dotted around the site, a bike wash/maintenance area and a small, shared drying room. There is plenty of parking onsite. The Roost Merthyr Tydfil is a Visit Wales Quality Assured Glamping Site and has been awarded the Cyclists and Walkers welcome awards. Cabins are private. In a change to our original set up, guests are allocated a shower room and kitchen area solely for their use, these are located in the facilities cabin. There will/may be other guests around using the site/facilities. We'll be around if you need us but you'll be able to access the site and your cabin using access details we'll send you prior to booking. The Roost is in Troedyrhiw, Merthyr Tydfil, in the heart of the Welsh Valleys with the Brecon Beacons on the doorstep. There's a pub next door (no food but there's a pool table!) and the village centre is a 5 min walk away. Here you’ll find a cafe (they do great value breakfasts and Sunday roasts to eat in or takeaway (and they can deliver)), pubs, convenience stores, a butchers, chemist, cashpoints (within the convenience stores), an Indian restaurant and takeaways. Merthyr Tydfil town centre is 12 mins by car, 18 mins by train (from Troedyrhiw) or a 20 min level bike ride on the Taff Trail. Here you’ll find a wider choice of food and drink and shopping, a cinema and leisure centre. The Roost is easy to get to by car and parking is provided. Troedyrhiw train station, a 5 min walk away, connects directly to Merthyr Tydfil, Cardiff, Bridgend and Barry Island. If you're off to BikePark Wales, you may want to leave your car and cycle there in 15 mins (less on the way back as its downhill!).
