Ambergate Hilltop Retreat
The loft conversion of our 1930's home is for the sole use of our guests. It offers a double bedroom, shower room and small lounge with hot drink making facilities and TV. Full cooked or continental breakfast included. We are located in a hilltop position with stunning views over the Derwent Valley, within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. Belper, an historic market town, is 2 miles away and we are close to many attractions of the Peak District. Great area for walking and cycling. Our loft conversion, offering all three rooms for your private use, is flooded with natural light and has spectacular views from all windows. Access is via a private staircase. Comfortable bedroom, private shower room and private small lounge with television and hot drink making facilities. We offer breakfast in our kitchen diner or outside on the patio, weather permitting! You're welcome to use our kitchen to make your own snacks and drinks. Relax in our garden set on three levels, with a patio, lawn, and top seating area where you can enjoy watching the sun set over the rooftop of the house. Guest bedroom with double bed. Private guest shower room. Private guest lounge with sofa, TV and hot drink making facilities. Shared kitchen diner for making drinks and snacks. Shared garden on 3 levels. Private guest parking space just outside the house. We are happy to pick guests up from Ambergate or Belper bus or train stations by prior arrangement. We look forward to welcoming you on arrival and showing you around our space. We're happy to advise you on the local area and give tips on good places to visit. We also provide a folder with recommended places to visit and information on Derbyshire attractions. Our house is situated on a cul de sac of only 5 houses so it is very quiet and peaceful. We are next to a wood, with fields at the back of the house and great views over the valley at the front. Ambergate is a hilly village with great walks, interesting woodland to explore, a river, Cromford canal, Hurt Arms pub & restaurant, train station, fish & chip shop and petrol station with mini-market. Belper, an historic mill town with a great choice of cafes, shops, pubs and restaurants, is 2 miles away. We are in the middle of the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site, famous for its historic water powered cotton mills, which stretches from Derby, 11 miles to the South and Matlock Bath, 7 miles to the North. We're well placed for access to the many attractions of Derbyshire, including the Peak District, Chatsworth House, Kedleston Hall and Arkwright's Mill at Cromford. Ambergate Train station is a 10 minute walk away, trains run hourly to Matlock and Belper, Derby, Nottingham. Buses run regularly to Derby, Matlock, Belper. Bus stop is a 5 minute walk downhill to the A6 road. By car- 20 mins from M1, 10 mins from A38. By foot-40 mins walk to Belper, 5 mile walk to Cromford along canal towpath which is also great for cycling. Private Guest parking space outside the house. We have steps to the front of the house so we may not be suitable for guests with mobility difficulties. The road is steep and narrow on the final 50 yards approach to the house, we would advise against reversing up and best to use first gear.
