Charming Cotswold Cottage
The Little Cottage is a small terraced Cotswold stone cottage nestled in the heart of Chalford Hill village. It offers cosy accommodation for up to 4 adults (with room for a travel cot) in two double bedrooms. Its the perfect base from which to explore all the Cotswolds has to offer. Perfect for a relaxing getaway, it is not, however, a party house or, due to the narrow staircases and path to the garden, suitable for people with mobility issues. There are two double bedrooms with space in both to take a travel cot (we can provide one), towels and bed linen are provided. I'm happy to make up one of the doubles with single duvets if you have children who would prefer not to share bedding - please just ask when you book. Please be aware that the second bedroom is in the attic so has limited head height in some places in the room. There are plenty of extra blankets in case you need something extra warm. Each bedroom has electric radiators. The kitchen is compact but has everything you need to brew a decent cup of coffee in the morning or whip up a quick family meal in the mini range cooker in the evening. There is an ample fridge freezer, a small dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine in the kitchen, there is also a small Everhot range cooker - its electric and very simple to use. The living room is warmed by a stove and we will provide you with a large basket of logs, kindling and firelighters you need to keep it glowing. Should you require more logs they’re available from the local garage, Stroud Farm Services and Jolly Nice cafe. Please just ask if you need directions. The bathroom has a bath with a shower overhead. There is an enclosed garden to the rear of the property but like all the properties in the village its a little quirky - to find it go out the front door and turn immediately right - up the steps, follow the path all the way around Cherub Cottage and through the little gate and you will come upon a gorgeous terraced space with a summer house and a wonderful view over the Cotswolds. Children are very welcome - we can provide a travel cot, children’s plates/ cutlery, bath mat, stair gate. Please keep a close eye on children in the garden as there is an the entrance to an underground spring along the access path to the garden. Dogs are welcome but please keep them downstairs and off the furniture. There is a welly rack for muddy boots and an umbrella in the stand in the entrance hall so you don't have to get wet walking the Cotswolds or on your way to the pub! There are coat hooks in the cupboard in the entrance hall. You will be supplied with a welcome basket with a few essentials from local producers - eg bread, milk, coffee, tea, eggs etc All of it We live in the village so are close at hand if you need anything. Bring good walking shoes and don’t expect lots of local delivery take away services or Uber taxis! This is the Cotswolds - lots of hilly beautiful countryside and the closest town is 4 miles away. This is the British countryside - the weather is unpredictable and the wildlife can be overly friendly (plenty of badgers and foxes in the village) and spiders and woodlice do tend to make it into the cottage.
