This former railway station in Ballingham, Herefordshire is now a detached house, tucked away in a large one acre plot, allowing guests to enjoy a private and peaceful setting. A very private detached cottage converted from the old Ballingham Station. Situated within a 1.25 acre plot, with pretty, enclosed gardens formed on and below the old platform, enhanced by a separate meadow area which overlooks fields down towards the River Wye. A patio and BBQ area offers a lovely place to sit and enjoy the gardens. The driveway leads to a large parking and turning area . There is a large living room with a wood burner, Smart TV and DVD player. Station House also now has the benefit of fibre broadband. The kitchen/dining room is equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, microwave and fridge, with a separate utility room containing a freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Three bedrooms (1 en-suite) each with a double bed provides accommodation for 5/6 guests. Firewood is provided free of charge. Station House is situated in Ballingham in the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 8 miles south of Hereford City and 8 miles north of Ross on Wye. There are a number of nearby walks and footpaths to enable exploration of this beautiful area. It is a great base from which to explore Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and the Forest of Dean and is within easy walking distance to the River Wye. The historic town of Hereford is a short drive with its cathedral and Mappa Mundi, a lovely shopping district and racecourse. The Cider Museum and Croft Castle, National Trust Berrington Hall, Goodrich Castle, Brockhampton and Weir Garden, plus the Black and White Trail are all nearby. Activities such as canoeing and other watersports can be found at nearby locations including Hay-on-Wye, Ross-on-Wye and Symonds Yat. Major supermarkets are approximately 8 miles away in Hereford or Ross-on-Wye. Award winning country pub and restaurant, The Cottage of Content, is just a ¼ mile away. Elaine will liaise with you regarding your time of arrival and will either meet visitors at Station House or arrange for key collection. We live about 2 miles away so will be on hand via phone or email should you need anything during your stay. The property is situated on its own in a beautiful rural area but just a short walk to the pub/restaurant The Cottage of Content, Carey. There is no light pollution so a great place to view the stars on a clear night. Ballingham is a small hamlet without a shop and no bus route and The Station closed in 1964. So, unfortunately, a car is likely to be required. Supermarkets do deliver to Ballingham. Please note: Children are welcome but there are drops in the garden as it was an old station and there are no baby or toddler facilities within the property.
