Set in secluded countryside near Newtown with easy access to the coast. The nearby village of Mochdre has a pub and church but little else although 5 mins in the car offers supermarkets, baker, butcher, chemist, bank with cash dispenser and all-hours petrol station. A short stroll from the property takes you along the river bank, through the woods to a waterfall perfect for den-making, picnics and dog walks. All around there are walking, hiking and biking trails for all levels of ability. The Peaceful Retreat was originally the village schoolhouse and is mentioned in historic documents. Sadly few features remain and the property has been completely renovated by the current owner as a holiday home, including a new kitchen (with modern equipment and appliances) redecoration and restyling of interiors throughout. The house is decorated and equipped to a high specification offering guests comfort combined with practicality. The kitchen is a lovely light living space, with doors and a window overlooking the pretty rear garden. Wide double french windows give direct access from the living room to the stone terrace dining area alongside the river - a real sun trap. There is a modern wood burner in the living room with logs and kindling supplied although the property is fully centrally heated. Sit in the garden or by the river and you are unlikely to hear anything other the trickle of the water, birdsong or the occasional sound of farmers in the fields. Take a short car drive and you can be shopping in the traditional Welsh shops in local towns or a little further on - you’re on beautiful, unspoilt Welsh beaches!
