Detached, listed building dating back to the 17th century, set in lovely gardens designed to capture all possible Scottish sun! Surrounding the house is a Japanese style morning garden, decking suitable for BBQs, and the main garden - perfect for lazy summer days. Downstairs is the library, large kitchen, office area, wet room, lounge and dining room -which opens out onto a patio. Upstairs is the family bathroom between 3 cosy double bedrooms, with spectacular views of the Lomond Hills. Falkland is one of the filming locations for Outlander, replacing Inverness in the series, with beautiful architecture and nature around and beyond the village. Walking through the village estate will lead you to cricket pitches, duck ponds and walking further into the forrest and hills are lively rivers and waterfalls. In the village centre lies Falkland Palace, along with many arts/crafts shops and cafes - some of which have featured in the Outlander series! Either me or my daughter Emma will be a phone call or txt away. We also have support from someone living in the village if needed. Falkland is a beautiful Scottish village, with buildings dating back to the 12th Century. Falkland is best known for Falkland Palace. This royal dwelling was once the residence of the Stewart kings and queens, built between 1501 and 1541 by James IV and James V. The palace is open to the public and has some of the most exceptional architecture of its time in Britain. It is also home to "Real tennis" and has one of only two 16th century tennis courts in Britain (the other is in Hampton Court). There is a beautiful park to wander through, the Lomond Hills to climb and an organic farm to rest up in during walks where you can enjoy great vegetarian and vegan food. Try the wonderful pubs and restaurants to get a taste of the real Scotland. Falkland has many world class golf courses within an easy drive, including The Old Course in StAndrews. Visit Perth and the coastal fishing villages of Anstruther and Pittenween for the day. Falkland is best suited to car drivers to benefit from its central location in Fife, however there are trains to nearby stations which have bus transfers. Perth and St.Andrews are only 30 mins away, and Edinburgh and Glasgow 1hr. The historic market town of Cupar is a 15mins drive. Falkland is the perfect base to enjoy beautiful Fife and the surrounding coastal villages. The house will only be available for 90 days/year however there is flexibility about when. Of course all bookings will be honoured but when the 90 days are gone that's it until next year!
