Taupiri Retreat

Our home is on 1.3 acres close to the Waikato Expressway with expansive views of surrounding farmland with hills in the distance. Your accommodation is private but across the drive from us - your hosts - so are we available to answer any questions. Your room has a heat pump but receives all-day sun. We are 15 minutes drive from Hamilton and close to several Function Centres if you just wish to stay local rather than chance a drive home afterwards. We are generally home. There are several tourist attractions around us - Hobbiton, Waitomo Caves, walking up Mount Te Aroha or Mount Pirongia or surfing at Raglan. A short drive will take you to Lake Hakanoa, which is a 3.6km gentle stroll around this lake. Ballooning over Waikato is an annual event held in March and the famous Fieldays in June each year. The Expressway will take you to Cambridge with it's quaint English atmosphere and superb antique shopping. It's just a short drive to Ngaruawahia and you can cycle down the Waikato Esplanade all the way to Hamilton Gardens. Ngaruawahia also boasts Breaking Bread Cafe with it's generous portions and good prices, or alternatively in Taupiri on the banks of the Waikato is Hopin' Stopin' Café. We are close by the Waikato Expressway which takes you North to Auckland or South to Hamilton, Cambridge, Rotorua, Taupo and beyond. Your kitchenette will be supplied with muesli, bread, yoghurt, milk, orange juice, tea and coffee making supplies. There is a microwave for you to re-heat any prepared food you bring with you.
