Living on a working vineyard La Grande Grange
Chateau Grand 'Grange is situated in Le Perreon in Beaujolais Village 35 min by car from Lyon. The location is quiet in the middle of the vines in a beautiful environment. The 2. apartment has sleeping for two, a big combined kitchenette and dining and living room which has access to the bathroom with shower and two sinks. It is also possible to rent both apartments for a total of 6 persons. You can use the pool and tennis, there is a table tennis and a small pool table. You will find chairs for the pool area under the open terrasse and a parasol which you should take down when leaving the area as we have some violent storms coming out of nowhere in a split second. In these times we clean and désinfect the apartment and allow at least 48 hours between guests. There is hand désinfection in your room. If a door is open to some of the rooms you are wellcome to enter and have a look. Rackets for the tennis is in the small tower in the park. We are not likely to be there but Andrea our oenolog will work next door every weekday. He lives in the house behind the castle and speaks french, english and italien. He will also give you a tour of the place and a tasting if you like. (time permitting) You are in the middle of the vines with a nice little village with baker, supermarket, two bars/restaurants within walking distance and only one kilometer away from a one star Michelin restaurant in Vaux at the Auberge Clochemerle . Lyon is only 35 minutes away by car and you can walk in the footpaths among the vines in the hills and enjoy the peace and quietness of the old hamlet. You will need a car to get around as public transportation is sparce. You can park in the courtyard. This is Direction from Lyon airport and from the south driving on A6. From Lyon airport there are free shuttle buses to the rental stations where you get out - from terminal 1 a little to the right and from terminal 2 a little to the right. Once in the car you turn north if from Avis, Budget or Europe Car it is right – from the others it is left away from the airport. You will on the local roads pass 3 roundabouts where you look for Lyon/Geneva/toute direction (not only Geneva) and in the 4th you go almost 360 degrees and see the motorway sign and head towards Lyon on A432. You just follow that through the pay station and it merges into A46 and A6. You follow Paris/Villefranche and you see that sign already before the first pay station. As you get close to Villefranche after about 30 min or so you want to go to Villefranche north no. 31.1 exit and not take the first Villefranche centre (31.2). So you grab a ticket at the pay station (take a right lane they are normally quicker but have a look) and continue for about 5 min when you get to 31.1 and Villefranche north where you exit. In the roundabout 50 meters from where you pay you take the second road D43E towards Arnas (it is straight opposite where you enter the roundabout from the pay station) and follow the road down under the narrow railway bridge and go straight ahead. Just follow the road for several km. D43 towards and through Blaceret and you will soon see the sign for Le Perreon where you turn left on B49. It winds its way and at the Renault dealer/garage on your right you turn right on to Chemin de la Grand Grange. There is also a sign with Chateau Grand Grange on. You go uphill and get to the courtyard on your left. Take care when you enter it is a bit narrow. Your rooms are up the stairs to your right and the key will be in the door. If you have a gps it is easier to plot in Lieu dit La Grande Grange, 69460 Le Perreon
