Welcome to Riverbend Cottage at Coba Point on the Hawkesbury River. Located half way between Berowra Waters and Brooklyn, it's your perfect weekend getaway on the river. About 1 hour north of Sydney, the cottage IS ONLY ACCESSIBLE BY BOAT; a 20 min trip from Brooklyn or Berowra Waters (or 2-3 hour paddle by kayak). When you arrive step onto the jetty and meander up to the front deck, which directly overlooks the river and private beach. Specials - Contact Host for 3 / 4 night midweek specials Coba Point is river access only. No cars, no roads, no tracks, no footpaths - just river. But there are stunning secluded beaches nearby, creeks, waterfalls, even a WW1 shipwreck. For a really great meal, upstream is Berowra Waters Inn (bookings essential, river access only). Berowra Waters also has a marina with cafe, and a great Italian bistro "A Chef Secrets" located on the water. Brooklyn has a small shop, numerous cafes, The Angler's Rest and a railway station (Hawkesbury River). Just outside Brooklyn is The Estuary Restaurant (limited opening hours) and The Mooney Mooney Workers, which is a great restaurant/pub located in Mooney Mooney. For the adventurous, you can walk up the back of the house, and find you way up to the top of Coba Point for the stunning views. There's no marked track however. Remember, Coba Point is completely off grid, so all power comes from solar and batteries. Cooking is gas, using swap'n'go cylinders which we will ensure are topped up. All water on site is rain water. So please be mindful of this and use energy/gas/water responsibly. There's a BBQ on the verandah for outside cooking too. The self conatined apartment has a litchen, bathroom which includes laundry, smart TV, and A/c . With everyone working from home these days, why not work from home away from home? There's ample space for quiet time with a laptop while everyone else take a trip in a tinny/kayak or just relaxes on the verandah Part of the joy of river life is the peace and tranquility. We specialise in providing single or double sea kayaks which can be picked up at Brooklyn or Berowra Waters and paddled to Coba Point in about 2 - 3 hours, unless of course you stop at one of the many beaches/creeks/inlets on the way. We can even help with getting your gear/food/beverages to the house so its ready when you arrive (extra charge). Contact Host for this option as we run a local kayak hire business. Alternatively, you can arrange for the river taxi to pick you up and return, and even have a small tinny waiting for you at the jetty when you arrive (extra charge). We recommend Hawkesbury River Water Taxi, based in Brooklyn. They offer 24 hour service, although late night trips incur extra fees. Look for their tinny and taxi package. Approx costs for the taxi are: One way trip Brooklyn to Coba Point - $130 for 2 passengers, cheaper rate per passenger as numbers increase Tinny/Taxi combo $400 per weekend, extra nights extra fee. Please contact the watertaxi for exact rates If you have your own boat, you're welcome to arrive and tie up at our jetty (up to 6m boats). You can launch trailer boats at Berowra Waters ramp, Mooney Mooney ramp (Deerubun reserve) or at Parsley Bay in Brooklyn. Its about 15-20 mins from these (+10 from Parsley Bay) to Coba Point with a larger HP motor doing 20-30 knots. You can also hire boats from Brooklyn Central or Berowra waters marina (includes BOAB boat hire) and types of boats vary depending on your boat licence availability. Overnight tinnies/boats are available. If you really want to arrive in style, you can fly in by sea plane. That's an expensive option!! Once on the jetty, its just a few metres up to the house. We don't live at the property, so on weekends the downstairs is yours. Upstairs is rented but the tenants do not occupy on weekends. We can meet you at the wharf in Brooklyn if you choose to use the river taxi. If you choose to hire our kayaks for the weekend trip, then we will meet you and provide a full safety briefing before launching your kayaks. We also offer to gear drop your food and kit if you choose that option. There are no shops at Coba Point, so you'll need to bring in all your supplies for the weekend. However, the kitchen is stocked with the basics such as sugar/tea/salt/pepper/milk. There is wifi and smart TV, so you can relax in the evenings watching movies/shows on your favourite streaming platform (using your own account logon). But phone coverage can be a bit hit and miss out here. All bedding and towels etc will be provided. We expect that the property will be left in a neat & tidy state when you leave. - We'll strip beds however, thankyou for leaving dishes washed and put away, fridge emptied, BBQ clean and bathroom tidy. - A $50 excess cleaning fee will apply if the house is left untidy/sandy. Coba Point is river access only. No cars, no roads, no tracks, no footpaths - just river. But there are stunning secluded beaches nearby, creeks, waterfalls, even a WW1 shipwreck. Alternatively, we can arrange for the river taxi to pick you up and return, and even have a small tinny waiting for you at the jetty when you arrive (extra charge). Or, if you have your own boat, you can moor on our private jetty. The nearest shops to Coba Point are at Brooklyn or Berowra Waters, which means a 20-30 min boat trip. And even those are just small general stores. You are best advised to bring all your needs with you on the trip to the Cottage. There's plenty of room in the fridge. There is no parking at Coba Point, the house is accessible only by boat. WIFI (NBN Skymesh) is available and the TV is smart so there's Netfilx, Stan, iview etc, as long as you have your own accounts. Remember to log out of any apps before you leave. If you plan on staying a while, let us know so we can ensure the data plan meets your needs. Mobile phone reception is sketchy at best, don't rely on phones for calls. Wifi messaging is the way to go. There's no land line either. Unfortunately, as this is a river access only house, with a pontoon and jetty and steps, it is not wheelchair accessible. All bedding and bath towels are supplied. Of course you can bring your own if you wish. Specials available for last minute bookings, 3 night weekends, 4 nights mid week and 7 night stays. Contact us for special rates subject to availability at the "contact host" section. Licence number PID-STRA-3880
