Hazlewood Pastoral Co. Shed.
A unique farm, riverside and bush accommodation situated at the foothills of the Barrington Tops, amongst the paddocks of the Monkerai Valley and sitting on the River bank of the Karuah River. The Hazlewood Shed features cathedral ceilings, exposed beams and an industrial overhead fan. French doors open onto verandas with views of the Hazlewood cows and the natural beauty of the river bank. Breakfast hamper is included. The Hazlewood Shed accomodation offers a country and Australian bush experience. It is secluded and peaceful. Guests can enjoy the comfortable design of the indoors, the verandas, swim in our natural swimming hole, walk country roads, hike in the bush or go for a ride on one of our bicycles. Situated next to The Shed is The Hazlewood Aviary. Our farmhouse chickens reside here happily with many beautiful birds. The area has an abundance of bird life which includes Eastern spine bill, Eastern yellow robin, Red browed finch, Superb fairy wren, Scarlet honey eater, many varieties of water fowl, Friar birds, Parrots, varieties of Fantails and not to forget the Hazlewood ducks! Feeding time is around 4 in the afternoon. Local produce is available on Saturday morning at the little growers market in Dungog, a 40 minutes drive through the picturesque Monkerai National Park. Loo and Simon from Fosterton Farm and bakery are also there with freshly baked sourdough breads and delicious pastries. Television channels are unavailable due to lack of reception. However, there is Apple TV. If you enjoy a some golf practice, we have recently cultivated a short iron golf driving range and chipping area including a bunker. So please feel free to use at any time. Guests. Are welcome to fly drones on our property. We have uninterrupted views for well over 1.5 km. Guest are welcome to explore the entire property excluding our working shed and farmhouse. Guests are also welcome to pick fresh herbs and vegetables from the garden when available. We also have a wood fire pizza oven. I’m happy to make some fresh pizza dough and tomato sauce if you’d like to bring your favourite toppings. We just need a days notice to get it up and running for you. 🍕 We are more than happy to guide guests around the property or to respect guest privacy. The Hazlewood Shed is in an isolated and beautiful part of the Monkerai Valley. Stroud is approximately a 30 minute drive, Dungog 40 minutes and Gloucester is also 40 minutes away with the entrance to the Barrington Tops National Park and its many walks. Riverwood Downs resort is only 10 minutes away and offers kayak hire and horse riding. Bookings need to be made in advance. Public transport is not available. Car or motorcycle are necessary to access the property and to get to local towns. However, once guests arrive...there is no reason to leave with many beautiful walks within the property. We can also offer transport to guests attending functions at Riverwood Downs. Guests should bring supplies with them unless they are happy to take a drive to town. We will be happy to help out with what we can if necessary. A breakfast hamper is included with Hazlewood eggs, homemade muesli, yoghurt, seasonal fruit, honey, jams and bread. Our farm or local produce is given when available along with a selection of teas and Nespresso coffee. Cheese plates with local cheeses, olives and dried and fresh fruits can be ordered for $60. A barbecue is available for private use.
