4 acre wildflower meadow surrounded by large mature trees. No nearby roads. Vehicle access for loading /unloading Only .Cars then parked nearby. Six extremely large pitches, each with its own picnic table allow more space than other conventional sites. Guets can also erect extra structures as long as maximum occupancy (6) not exceeded. Shared tented shower, electric points, USB ports, wash up sink, fridge, freezer, water boiler. PLEASE NOTE THERE MAY BE MORE AVAILABILITY THAN CALENDAR SHOWS The site is not near a road but guests can reach the site easily by way of a laid country track, so time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life is guaranteed. You wont find any bars, electric amusement zones or swimming pools etc., but you will experience the beauty of nature and wildlife around you (Owls, many other birds of prey, Badgers, foxes, deer and bats are regular visitors) and on a clear night, huge dark and clear skies where star gazing is mind blowing. Whilst wild camping can be an amazing experience that can be freely enjoyed throughout Dartmoor National Park, we know that it can be tricky especially when you have children. With this In mind we provide the following for shared use - a compost toilet, two portaloos, a Shared tented camping shower, free access to a water tap, (suitable for drinking as well as washing) a ”tea shed” where there is a hot water boiler, kettles and electric sockets And USB ports for mobile phone and tablet charging, a kitchen sink under a temporary structure (cold water feed only - suitable for washing up by adding hot water boiled separately) one picnic bench per pitch and a “chill out bell tent” with comfy floor cushions to sit and lounge on and games to play This is a nice place to chill out when its hot, or escape the rain when wet . We like to keep this particular camping experience as natural and simple as possible so there are no Individual electric hook up points or outside lights. Bring your torches to get around in the dark but watch out for nocturnal wildlife. We allow guests to drive vehicles into the meadow to unload on arrival and then load up again when departing. After that we ask that you park in designated areas so that the meadow can be enjoyed without vehicles blocking the views. This also preserves the condition of the ground and allows wildflowers to flourish We like to leave guests in peace to enjoy their stay but there is always a family member in the house to help if necessary. (not far from the field but the house does not overlook the site) However, when we light the large fire pit we will supervise the fire for safety reasons. PLEASE NOTE, ALTHOUGH THE DETAILS LISTED SUGGEST THE SITE IS FOR 16 GUESTS THIS IS INCORRECT BUT THE SETTINGS DO NOT ALLOW THE ADDITION OF EXTRA GUESTS. The site has six pitches that can accommodate up to 4 people per tent For the set price with 2 extra people accommodated for a supplement of £5 per person per night. ****THE SITE CAN BE HIRED FOR EXCLUSIVE USE**** ALSO PLEASE NOTE , The two camping showers are for rental (£5 For three hours which is the battery running time) and time slots can be reserved on arrival. They are placed inside shower enclosure tents. Individual Fire Pits can also be rented for £2 per night Please enquire for further details in relation to any of the above information Although its feels as if you are far away from everything, the local village with small shop, two pubs, fish and chip shop and bakery is a twenty minute downhill walk through the footpath running right next to the meadow. The river Walkham runs through the village jn the childrens playground - great paddling territory! Tavistock is the nearest town three miles away and it has numerous places to eat and drink, takeaways, independent shops and regular pannier market running Tuesday to Saturday. This sells various goods that change from day to day. There are numerous local paths and beautiful walking routes on dartmoor running through lakes and rivers and woodland and loads of stunning beaches around 45 minutes to an hours drive away. North cornwall beauty spots such as Padstow, Port Isaac, Tintagel and Trebarwith Strand beach are around an hour away and numerous south hams beaches in Devon such as Wembury, Bantham, South Milton Sands and Salcombe are between 45 minutes and an hour twenty minutes by car. Bus stop in village going to Tavistock and Plymouth. Plenty of local taxi firms We normally light communal fires In the large fire pit two times per week unless Its raining or if the site is significantly under-occupied. However, on nights when this is not lit, individual fire pits can be rented for £2 per night. (To avoid damage and preserve the quality of the grass we ask that guests do not use their own fire pits). If barbecues are used they must be the types with legs and must not be placed directly on the ground so if using a disposable one you will need to bring a table or other device to stand It on. Your co operation is very much appreciated as we try to avoid damage to the meadow.
