Le Jasmin is a charming, open and bright space that includes a large room, (60m2), with mezzanine and a beautiful shaded terrace with a view. Gite guests also have the sole use of a small, sunny garden. At the end of the road, at the top of the hill, and overlooking beautiful countryside, one feels far from the crowds, but the D117 road which crosses the south-east of France is 2 minutes from here, so there is easy access for hiking/walking trails, skiing, mountain biking, historic centers. The gite is on the first floor, accessed by a gentle staircase. It consists of an open-plan room, with lounge, dining and kitchen area. The lounge offers a comfortable 3 piece suite, coffee table, DVD player plus screen, DVDs for adults and children and adults' books in English and French. The dining area consists of dining table and 4 chairs. The kitchen area has a large fridge with ample freezer compartment, a gas hob and electric oven, dishwasher, electric kettle, toaster and a large range of kitchen equipment. Nestled in a cosy corner of this open plan room is the master bed, a luxurious king-size. Reading lamps and bed-side table are in place for your convenience. An elegant washroom is situated in one corner of the space on this level and offers a luxurious walk-in shower, toilet, hand basin and heated towel rail. Towels, toilet rolls, soap and shampoo are provided. Access to the mezzanine is via a small staircase. Here you'll find two single beds with bedside table and lamp, shelving and childrens' games and books in French and English. Outside, a rustic and charming roofed terrace gives access to the front door of the gite. This area provides a wonderful spot to relax in, shady and open, with a beautiful view of rolling countryside. A dining table and 4 chairs offer a perfect spot for chilled, open-air eating. A sofa and comfy chairs allow for shaded relaxing by day and a perfect setting in which to enjoy this magical space in the evening, lit by fairy lights. The old timber roof beams are a favourite perch for local barn owls at night. In front of the gite is a sunny/partially shady garden (not fully enclosed) for our guests sole use. One can sit or recline, in or out of the sun, on comfortable chairs or make use of our BBQ equipment. For more energetic moments, a basket ball and hoop, badminton set, molkky game, darts board and children's boules set are at your disposal. Le Jasmin is the last house in the hamlet of Saint Jean, at the far end of a small square, with a few neighbouring houses. Attached to our house, the gite is not overlooked by anyone, instead it faces the surrounding farmland and our garden. Transport relies mostly on cars in Ariege as public transport is sparse. You can however access the coach and train service to Toulouse from our local town, 10 minutes drive from here and there are a few regular buses to Foix from the bottom of our road, 2 minutes drive from here. If you enjoy cycling, there is a beautiful greenway/bike path, recently created in the place of the old railway line, which is a few minutes drive from here. It stretches from Saint Girons to Foix, passing through all of the local villages. We have bikes to rent.
