40m² suite with en-suite bathroom and extra kitchen in the separate guest house of our beautiful finca in the countryside near Almayate on 5,000 m² plot – at 2.5 km from Costa del Sol's only unspoiled beach. Málaga and the airport are half an hour drive away. Huge pool terrace, outside kitchen with bbq, billiard table and dartboard, countless lounge areas, fruit and vegetable garden – and to complete paradise: eight very human dogs from tiny to giant, two kids and me to share the joy or ignore. The finca is divided into two large, independent houses built into the hillside, in between the pool, pool terrace with outside kitchen, BBQ, roofed terrace and laundry house. All around: pure nature. The upper house is our private castle (our family includes a ten-year-old girl, a twelve-year-old boy, eight dogs, two cats and a handfull of chicken, all from the street – except for the kids). I am renting out the entire lower house with a total living area of 150m² – room by room individually for two to five people each as well as all together to fit up to ten plus child. This house is totally autonomous and private, it has its own entrance, two kitchens and every room has its own bathroom. Only the outside spaces are shared with us or other tenants. All windows face south and overview the sea. As you enter the lower house the fully equipped modern kitchen with seating area is on your left. The suite for two to four people has a size of 40m². Here, graphic industrial style meets warm antiques. The en-suite bathroom is right next to the entrance to the modern living area with sofa bed (1,40m) and desk leading into the bedroom with a 1,80m double bed, around the corner you will find a spacious walk-in wardrobe. All windows face south and overview the sea. Info on the rest of the house: Next to the kitchen there is a nice room with sea views, double bed and en-suite bathroom for two people (ad on Airbnb: ROOM IN FINCA WITH POOL & SEA VIEWS FOR DOG LOVERS). At the end of the hallway there is an independent 50 m² studio-apartment with own terrace and garden, besides a private kitchen, bathroom, a little extra room (without window) with a kid’s bed and large wardrobes, to fit two to four people plus child (ad on Airbnb: STUDIO IN FINCA WITH POOL&SEA VIEWS FOR DOG LOVERS). The 5000 m² plot is completely fenced and largely a wild park full of fruit trees (lemons, oranges, figs, nisperos, pomegranates, apples, pears, nectarines, litchis, grapes, grapefruit… - there is always something to pick). Via the dry river bed you can walk the straight line to town (1.5 km) – by car you’ll drive a little detour (3.5 km). The town Almayate is 1 km away from the beach. Of course, it helps to like dogs, ours cannot be argued away. However, they are very close to us and are most likely to leave you alone unless you invite them. Please take a moment to let us introduce them to you (and any of your guests) and simply don’t let them enter the lower house, then your beds and groceries should be safe. But yes, they have hardly any manners, will jump at you to say hi, beg for food if you ever give them anything, “chat” with the neighbours’ dogs and some of them like their dip in the pool. Of course you can have your fling and go wild over the entire finca – feel free to enjoy the pool, chill on the terrace, have a BBQ or stroll around the garden as you please. I am always there for you and happy to help you with anything – but I won’t impose myself on you unless we all feel like a wine or something together. I am a freelance writer and have my home office, so I am mostly around. Or off to the beach with the kids and dogs. Rural idyll, breath-taking views over the sea, virgin soils and the mountains – and still only a stone’s throw away from the village. Almayate has everything you need: shops, bars, restaurants, playgrounds, bus stops. And it’s located directly next to the only unspoilt coastal strip of Costa del Sol. Only 600 m further up the coast you’ll find the popular nudist beach Almanat. You can choose between chiringuitos (beach bars) that like to see people wearing clothes… or not. The bigger town Torre del Mar is four kilometres away. Here, you’ll find loads of shops, boutiques, bars, restaurants of all kinds, ice cream parlours, cafés, discotheques, night clubs and pubs. The beach promenade stretches over various kilometres and is really nice – to go for a walk, stroll around, go rollerblading, bicycling or have the obligatory stop for tapas and a nice glass of wine. In the west Málaga, Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Marbella, Ronda, Estepona, Gibraltar or Tarifa, in the east Vélez-Málaga, Nerja, the white villages or Granada – what about a little day trip? And even Córdoba or Sevilla can be reached in around two hours by car… Almayate has a hand full of bus stops with good connections several times per hour that take you nearly anywhere. Be it Torre del Mar, Vélez-Málaga, Nerja or Málaga – just catch a bus if you don’t want to rent a car or don’t feel like searching for parking. You can safely park your car outside the gate – or as mentioned above give me a call to drive up after locking the dogs in. I strongly recommend you to rent a car. You can park it safely outside the gate, it’s some dozens of healthy steps up the drive before you hit your holiday home. Before carrying heavy bags or suitcases up you can always give me a call and I’ll lock the dogs inside so you can drive up to the house. Depending on whether you like it loud and proud or prefer the calm and relaxed way of life Almayate will hit every taste – according to the season. The beach is only busy during the high season – the Spanish summer holidays from end of June to mid-September. Still, it has nothing to do with those overfilled vacation strips where you see more bodies than sand. From mid-September to mid-June the beach of Almayate is virtually deserted except for the odd fisher, especially during the week. Still, some chiringuitos (beach bars) are open so you can enjoy your freshly grilled fish right on the beach in total peace. The village is accordingly un-touristic during these times irrespective of some clever souls taking a break over regional bank holidays. The most important village event takes place on the first Sunday in May – the Romería, definitely worth seeing. The entire population of Almayate puts on their traditional flamenco dresses and suits, especially bread bulls are beautifully decorated and pull colourful wooden wagons, then the milelong train accompanied by countless horses moves from here over Torre del Mar to hit a secluded park for an enormous pick-nick. A must-see for Spain lovers. Easter is also a major issue in Spain – especially in Vélez-Málaga (approx. 9 km away) colourful and impressive parades take place over an entire week (“semana santa”). During the summer months one fiesta leads to the next. All villages have their own feria (fun fair) with dance, stands and fun rides. Also the three-day music festival “Weekend Beach” has made quite a name for itself over the past years and attracts the masses from near and far. Over the winter months and even around Christmas it is rather relaxed here, even in Torre del Mar, the Spanish keep to themselves. So how about some X-Mas shopping in Málaga? The seasonal decorations are definitely worth seeing. And as soon as the sun shines you’ll even be warm wearing only a T-shirt.
