Welcoming family home and garden in Ivanhoe.

My Federation house is 10 km from the CBD and is located in a quiet and leafy suburb. The private room has a comfy queen size bed with wardrobe and drawer space. It is an easy 5 minute walk to the Ivanhoe shops and to the railway station. I am close to the Austin Hospital, Latrobe University and the Yarra River. My guests have been both local and international solo travellers, young backpackers from Germany, UK, France as well as business travellers. The room is bright and airy and quite spacious. You have use of a part of the wardrobe as well as the four dressing table drawers. There are spare blankets if needed. The room has AC and heating. The bathroom and toilet are along the hallway and are shared with the owner of the house. You are welcome to use either of the two dressing gowns which are in the room. As a guest you have access to all rooms except my bedroom. The outdoor deck is an ideal place to relax after a day's sightseeing. You are welcome to use the BBQ and I can provide space for you to store food. Use of kitchen can be negotiated. Free access to Wi Fi. I am very happy to interact with my guests, many who have remained friends. I understand that guests often need their own space and so am very considerate of that! This is a quiet, leafy and safe area and is centrally located to many facilities. It is 10 kms from the CBD and all the things that our beautiful city has to offer. The train is a 10 min walk from my house and it is a short 20 min ride to the MCG or Rod Laver Arena or a few more minutes into Flinders St station, Federation Square and the CBD. The galleries, theatres and the shops are easily reached from one of the other stations on the route. Closer to home, The Ivanhoe Aquatic Centre is a 4 min walk and visitors are always welcome to use the pool or the gym facilities. It is a 5 min walk to the Ivanhoe Shopping strip which has many cafes (one GF cafe and a GF Fish and Chip shop, another GF Indian restaurant), dress shops, book shops, chemists and two supermarkets. The Austin Hospital and The Mercy are a 5 minute drive away or a 15 minute walk. The bus to Latrobe University is a 2 min walk away or 10 minutes by car. If you are looking for some relaxation then there are many bike trails along the Darebin Creek and the Yarra river as well as numerous golf courses. Both the Fairfield and the Studley Park boathouses are a 4 km drive away and worth a visit. Row boat hire is available. I am on the Hurstbridge Train Line and the station is a 10 min walk away. There are buses to Latrobe University and Northland shopping centre. There is plenty of street parking available. If you are booking for a third party please give some details about your relationship with that person eg son, plus their name. If you have no photo ID on your profile I reserve the right to ask for photo ID upon your arrival. As it is a family home there might be some occasions when other members of the family are here for a meal or for some other reason. Wherever possible I would notify you in advance. My German Shepherd is very friendly and does come inside.
