Pat's traditional, 177 year old stone house
A cultural experience. 177 yr old house built by Greeks for Turks. An atmosphere of simplicity, with some integrated modern facilities. An open balcony blends inside and out as an ongoing organic experience. Low door frames, minimal plumbing, creaky floors, maybe a ghost or two! Goat bells, donkey shoes, tools, loom equipment, tin pots, enhance surroundings. Not really a place of luxury but discovery. Explore authentic village life with fantastic beaches. (sorry but not for children under 12). Barn style balcony space 55 sq m, with open-plan kitchen in corner of balcony. There is an adjoining access to host's house and additional rooms if necessary or the opportunity to get together. Views across the village. Extra summer outdoor stone shower/toilet, known as the Acropolis. Advice for off season walking holidays - spring and autumn perfect weather. Private parking available at front of house for 4 cars. Stone path leading to guest independent access via front door to stairs up to balcony space. All wood, sometimes referred to as 'the ship'. As I live next door, I am available throughout your stay and please don't hesitate to ask me for help or information. We can sometimes get together for coffee or meals if the mood takes us. Maps and information available. Sikia is not only a tourist village but a village with about 3,500 permanent residents. A number of foreigners have summer homes but the village keeps it's authentic Greek nature. The area supports a number of goat and cattle farmers, fishermen, olive, honey and local wine cultivation. Of course, many local people run seaside 'tavernas' and other tourist businesses in the summer. The village is about 4 kilometers from the beach. There is a bus service to Sikia from Thessaloniki, running about 3 buses per day, but this is not really very convenient for holidaying. It is possible though to arrive by bus, rent a moped or bicycles from the nearby village of Sarti or request a pick up from the airport for a fee, if renting a car is not an option. Please note the map. Sikia is about 4 kilometers from the nearest beach. It's more convenient to have a rent car as there are only 3 buses a day. Scooters, mopeds or bicycles can be rented from the next village and I will help you pick them up.
