Lovely Istrian farmhouse near Poreč
A renovated stone farmhouse in a tiny village that's 10 min. from the sea. Owned by the co-author of the Bradt Travel Guide to Istria, Thammy Evans, and her husband Vic, the home sleeps 8-12, has a private pool, fireplaces, and all the amenities. Although the house comprises three spaces, we rent it out as one space. The space sleeps 10, and even 12 or 14 if you don't mind a pull-out sofa. The prices on AirBNB assume 8-10 guests - so we will adjust it up or down if you are more or less guests than that - - except during peak season (July - August) where the prices are fixed irrespective of the number of guests. Before joining AirBNB, we had created a web site with information about the area and pictures of the house - although all of those pictures are now here. The house is called Ty Istra if you want to find it on the web. If you don't find answers to your questions here (or there) - don't hesitate to contact us. Thanks for looking! Pool, parking, kitchen, (fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and a clothes washer), Sat TV, DVD players, loads of books. Guests have access to and exclusive use of the entire house (all 3 living spaces) Although we do not live in the village, we are available by phone/email 24 hours and do not mind being contacted. We have a colleague that does live in the area and that arranges for any repairs, missing items, etc. in our absence, so do not hesitate to bring such things to our attention. In addition to the obvious attractions during an Istrian summer, the house, with its two open fireplaces, is also very welcoming over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. Other rental properties are available in the village if you’re looking to accommodate for a larger reunion. In terms of the village itself, it is small, with no shop or restaurant, though there is an old chapel, former school with small playground and some 'petank' courts on the edge of town. The town of Dracevac is not on the public transport route so most people either come by, or rent, a vehicle. A vehicle is also helpful for exploring the whole of the Istrian peninsula, though with bikes one can really see a lot and the area is reasonably bike friendly. There are good, regular bus connections between the main towns (Porec, Rovinj, Pazin, Pula). Arrival to Porec by ferry from Venice is also a terrific way to get here. There are loads of things to do in the area, including, of course heading to the seaside, but also water parks, beautiful hilltop towns with cobblestone streets, fantastic food and wine, biking, sailing, diving, boat rides - to mention a few of the most popular. We are happy to recommend many other things 'off the beaten path' to our guests. A couple of other things to note. The house sits next to a narrow, paved road, which isn't used much. The occasional tractor, a few vehicles from the neighbourhood, deliveries, that's about it. A neighbor parks his car along the road. Also, the yard area next to the house measures about 25 sq. meters. Similarly, in the back by the pool there is limited space around. We have a few sunbeds on one side, as you can see in the pictures.
