Escape to Wye Valley’s Wonderful Whitebrook
A private and tranquil haven to escape to where you can easily lose yourself into the beauty of nature on your doorstep with your own half acre garden and the woodlands bordering the property. Make friends with the chickens and enjoy their eggs for breakfast. The picturesque Whitebrook runs the length of the garden so clamber down and explore the stream and it’s mini waterfalls. Our 18th century stone-built cosy cottage is ideal for 2 with open plan living over 2 floors. 15 minutes to Monmouth. Our renovated cosy getaway is perfect for 2 people looking for a short or long break, fab for exploring the Wye Valley and convenient if attending local functions or visiting friends/family. Singles, couples, friends and families all welcome and we do have an additional double bed settee in the lounge/diner/kitchen and 2 floor cushion beds in the bedroom. A simple breakfast is provided in the cottage and includes milk, cereal, bread, butter and jams/marmalades. A good range and choice of teas and coffees are also provided for your enjoyment. Mobile reception is patchy, there is a landline in the house should you need it. Wi-fi is now fully available in the cottage. There's off road parking and a secure place to store push-bikes if you wish. There is a large garden area which will be for your sole use (quite uneven underfoot) with outdoor seating for you to just relax and enjoy the surroundings with a cuppa or your favourite tipple! We live at the property so will usually be around to welcome you but after that we leave guests in their own privacy. If you prefer no contact at all just let us know. Very happy to be on hand for questions about the place or advice on things to do etc if you would like. A fab and picturesque village with real character set in a valley with a pretty stream running down to the river Wye. "The Whitebrook" the village's very own fab Michelin starred restaurant is 300m down the road from us - great for special occasions. “The Boat" at Redbrook/Pennalt is a great bike ride away (bit tough riding back up the hill!) but well worth the cycle (or you can drive) - an old traditional Inn with log burners nestling on the banks of the Wye - local ales/ciders and simple pub food. In the summer sit beside the Wye or up amongst the pretty waterfall in their garden. Walking, mountain biking (great off-road tracks), road cycling, kayaking, canoeing are all either on our own doorstep or on the doorstep of the village. The old castle towns of Monmouth, Abergavenny and Chepstow are short drives away with an abundance of beautiful villages, walks and country eateries scattered throughout. You'll need a car to get around. Bus-stop to Monmouth is 1 mile walk from house and only has 2 bus runs a day. Taxi to Monmouth £15 each way. Pre-arranged lifts to events such as local weddings, Chepstow races, Cardiff concerts/sporting events etc are available if we're around - just ask us. The washing machine and tumble dryer are in a locked workshop adjoining the annexe but we will happily let you have a key so you can use them whenever you want - just ask.
