Lighthouse View - studio close to sandy beaches
Named for its stunning views across Falmouth Bay to Pendennis Castle and St Anthony’s Lighthouse, this first-floor studio apartment is attached to an artist’s home just a few minutes’ walk from the sandy beaches of Gyllyngvase and Swanpool. Newly converted, its crowning glory is a romantic Edwardian four-poster - watch the sun rise from the comfort of your bed! Art materials are provided so you can create and take home your own memory of the view. This generously proportioned studio gives you your own private entrance. There is a lounge area, a smart new bathroom, and a sleek, well-equipped kitchenette with unique roof window that bathes the room in light. A dining table sits beneath the east-facing window, from which you can watch the dawn from or relax over an evening meal and look out onto the lighthouse and the sea’s blue horizon. It is a tranquil space to create and recharge the batteries, or just to unwind after a day out exploring or on the beach. I am happy to be as on-hand for a chat or as respectful as your privacy as you wish. I live in the main house with my daughter so, while you have your own private entrance to the studio, I am only a message or a door knock away if you need me. I love meeting new people on their travels and am happy to share my local knowledge and tips to make your stay in Falmouth one of ease, adventure and comfort. However if you require anything special I will do my best to accommodate your needs. Nestled atop a leafy residential stree, your stay is well positioned between Falmouth’s historic old cemetery and Falmouth’s best two beaches. A left turn out of the drive and a walk of just a few minutes drops you down to the SW coast path and Swanpool beach, with its colourful beach huts. A right turn takes you to popular Gylly beach. Both beaches have on-beach café/restaurants. For stand-up paddle boarding and kayak hire, WeSup at Gylly comes highly recommended. With views of Gylly beach from your window, you can check when the tide is good for swimming. I recommend swimming just after high tide has turned, and am happy to join you for a swim if you’d like some company! Beach towels are provided. I also have some beach chairs you can borrow! Just ask. We are five minutes’ walk from Falmouth University Woodlane campus, and Merchant’s Manor Hotel and St Michael’s Spa Resort with their indoor swimming, hydro spa and gym facilities. Central Falmouth with all its restaurants, pubs and amenities is just under a mile’s walk. There is also plenty of free street parking just out side the house. With the SW coast practically on your doorstep, Pennance Road is well located as a base for walking. Falmouth Town rail station is just under a mile away. There is easy driving access into and out of town. Safe on-street parking is available outside my home. Head south out past Swanpool to explore the secluded Helford Passage and stunning Lizard peninsula, or quickly be on the main A39 road to adventure further afield. Boats to Flushing, St Mawes and Truro leave from Prince of Wales Pier, a 20-minute walk from the studio or hire your own boat from Custom House Quay, a 15-minute walk. There is plenty of free parking on the road out side the house. I also provide beach towels and chairs.
