Gite Dorothee

Gite Dorothee is a modern,comfortable light spacious modern gite, in which to enjoy your holiday here in France. A complimentary basket of local produce will be provided to welcome you to our gite Outside we have a lawned area with sun beds and a fire pit. You also have exclusive use of a large covered terrace and summer kitchen fully furnished for outdoor dining,and a relaxation area to enjoy. Just off the terrace,is the 8 x 4 heated swimming pool with views over looking Chateau Dampierre . Guests will have exclusive access to all patio, garden and terrace areas, and also the 8x4 heated pool. We have fibre internet to ensure you keep up to date and seamless streaming There is a epicerie / village shop open each day except Wednesday , it is well stocked with fresh food and essentials There is also a market on Thursday evenings at the cafe/ bar in the village ,selling local produce it’s well worth a visit . The village boasts a moated renaissance Chateau, and a 12th century church. We are very lucky to have an excellent café/bar which over looks the chateau. Natalie and Jean Marc the owners ,have a number of music evenings and live music throughout the summer, either in the bar itself or in the large garden area near the river boutonne ,adjacent to the bar. You’ll have a private garden, access to a covered terrace and swimming pool, (open from May until September) which gives you views across the village towards the Chateau Whilst the cottage is fenced off from the main house we will be available for help finding your way around the beautiful Charente Maritime. The chateau of Dampierre is situated in the village a five minute walk from the cottage. The village also has a bar and a shop. The town of Aulnay is only 5 miles away with a large supermarket local shops and artisans and a market on Sunday and Thursdays selling local produce . The beaches of Saint-Palais -sur Mer, Fouras and Chatelaillon-Plage are around 1 hour drive away. You will need your own transportation as there is not a local bus service in and around our village to the local towns. The nearest beach is a one hour drive away. We have friendly cats Millie, and Darcy who may wander around the garden from time to time. We also have two friendly spaniels who live with us in the main house . They are fenced off from the gite and will not be allowed in the garden at any time whilst guests are staying in the gite. All bedding , towels and pool towels are provided during your stay . Please note due to the current COVID-19 requirements and to prevent cross contamination between guests, we do not able to provide salt, pepper, oils or vinegars
