This comfortable south facing Grade 2 listed country house nestles at the foot of the Mendip Hills with panoramic views towards the Somerset Levels. This rambling 7 bedroom house, boasts many features of a bygone age. Five rooms on the first floor have en suite facilities and two rooms on the upper attic floor have a shared bathroom. The house contains a ground floor with 3 entrances and comprises a large well stocked country style kitchen with scullery, a formal dining room, a sunny sitting room. a morning room for breakfast and a garden room which has a TV. There are also 2 downstairs cloakrooms and a laundry room. The bedrooms are individually styled using family furniture . Five rooms are on the first floor and two rooms are on the upper floor. The floors are quite uneven in part as they are a combination of flagstones and wood and there are many steps and stairs. There are two car parks attached to Compton House. The historic Axbridge Square is within a few minutes walk and there you will find a pub and a restaurant, a cafe, a Coop supermarket, a chemist and post office. There are 2 free car parks near the Square. Compton House is 2 miles from Cheddar Gorge and is situated on the Strawberry Line which is famous for walking and cycle rides. Bicycles can be hired locally and there are bus stop s near the house for travel to Wells and Weston Super-Mare. Compton House has 2 small car parks. Within a few minutes walk of medieval Axbridge Square and 2.5 miles from Cheddar Gorge. 13 miles from Glastonbury and 7 miles from the historic city of Wells. Very good cycling and walking area around the Somerset Levels and Mendip Hills. Two free car parks near Axbridge Square. Parking limited to one hour in the Square. 2.5 mile walk to Cheddar. Local bus stop outside Compton House for Wells and Weston Super-Mare. Weston Super-Mare rail station 9 miles away. Bristol Airport 9 miles. Bicycles can be hired locally. Limited taxis. There is a south facing terrace with BBQ overlooking the lawn. Because of the age of the property and the amount of steps and stairs this property would face difficulties for those with mobility issues. The House has had an official Covid Risk Assessment and guests will be sent a letter in advance of their stay to explain the protocols that are in place to ensure guest safety.
