Central Location in Picturesque Dartmoor Village

Tor Cottage is located in the peaceful, picturesque village of South Zeal, on the northern fringe of Dartmoor. There are beautiful walks on our doorstep and we're only a 10 minute drive from the old Market town of Okehampton. You'll have exclusive use of the front part of the house which consists of a double bedroom, a bathroom and lounge/dining room, all with your own front entrance. A parking space for a medium sized car right outside the entrance can be made available for you if required. The lounge/dining room has a Smart TV with Freeview and Netflix, tea/coffee making facilities and a microwave. Breakfast is not provided but with a fridge, toaster, crockery and a starter pack of refreshments you'll have all you need, especially as you'll be in between two great pubs/restaurant's, with two more within a 15 minute walk. Please note that the spacious bathroom has a shower over the bath which may not suit some guests. There is no outside space at the moment but a lovely recreation ground is within a five minute walk, along with 368 square miles of National Park. I will leave you to self check in and to enjoy your privacy but I will available at all times if you need me. An information pack will have all the information that you need, including how to get in touch with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time for any reason. If you would like use of the parking space, please be sure to let me know but please follow the parking instructions and don't hinder access to the private driveway. South Zeal is such a peaceful place, but with a thriving community feel. The Oxenham Arms ( a two minute walk down the hill) is a charming 12th Century Hotel and Restaurant and is certainly worth a visit, as is The Kings Arms, with it's lovely thatched roof, which is a two minute walk up the hill. Both have lovely interiors and gardens. We are very lucky to have two such lovely, but different, pubs on our doorstep. The Village Shop is also very close with a little tea room and all the necessities and treats you may need. With the Taw River Inn just a 15 minute walk in the next village of Sticklepath, and the newly reopened Seven Stars in the pretty hamlet of South Tawton, a 10 minute walk away, you are spoilt for choice and can leave the car parked up for your entire stay, if you so wish. The walks here are numerous and you can walk straight on to the moor from South Zeal, or explore more of it further afield by car. Public transport is not frequent but with good planning you can get a bus to Exeter, Okehampton or even Bude. The bustling city of Exeter is only a 25 minute drive away or try a train ride from Okehampton on the newly reopened Dartmoor Line. Historic Okehampton, a 10 minute drive or bus ride, with it's Castle, beautiful Simmons Park and unique shops, is definitely worth a visit. On chilly days the central heating will be on early morning from about 7am and in the evening. Please bear in mind that Tor Cottage is a very old house and she creaks as she warms up, a bit like me. There are portable heaters for use at other times but please turn off when not in use.
