Idyllic rural Shepherd's Hut at Chadwell Hill Farm
Hidden away in the blissful Buckinghamshire countryside, you’ll find Chadwell Hill Farm. Our Shepherd’s Hut is beautifully furnished and nestled in a wild flower garden, overlooking the valley. And at just an hour from central London, the perfect rural escape is closer than you think. Jump on the train in London, and just an hour later, you could be watching the sunset over the valley, as you laze by the fire pit with a glass of wine in your hand. We can even provide you with our own farm produce to throw on the BBQ. The Shepherd’s Hut is the perfect space for a cozy getaway for two. But if you are looking to share it with family or friends, then in the summer months, we can provide a luxury twin-bedded Bell tent, next to the hut, for an additional cost of £50 per night (to be paid on arrival). And the farmhouse itself has 4 beautiful B&B rooms, just next door - perfect for a big party. So if you are planning a group getaway and need accommodation for between 4 and 12 people, just get in touch to enquire about dates and availability. We are also very happy to organise activities for you, to help you keep everyone entertained. To book the Shepherd’s Hut alone, just continue here. The Shepherd’s Hut sits in a wild flower garden behind Chadwell Hill Farm House. It comprises a double bed, kitchenette with sink, hob, oven, fridge, and small fold-away table, and a shower room and toilet. There is decking outside the hut which overlooks a fire pit, with table and chairs and a BBQ. In the summer months, a comfortably and beautifully furnished Bell tent can be provided with additional twin beds for two people. The Farmhouse next door has 4 lovely B&B rooms. Both the bell tent and the B&B rooms can be booked with the Shepherds Hut, by contacting the host about a group booking. Well behaved dogs are very welcome at Chadwell Hill Farm. There are stables at the farm where guests are welcome to stable a horse, and there are two bicycles that can be borrowed to explore the lovely countryside of the Chilterns. If you’d like to cook up a tasty breakfast or enjoy a BBQ, Nicky and Alan would be pleased to provide you with their own delicious free-range produce from the farm, from eggs, bacon and sausages, to pork chops, steak and chicken, for a small additional charge. Just contact us in advance to arrange. We live in the Farmhouse just next door, and you're welcome to knock on our door if there's anything you need. Situated in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Chadwell Hill Farm was originally part of the Rothschild estate, and is now a small holding and livery yard. We keep free-range pigs, Dexter cattle, ducks and chickens, and we also have a large vegetable patch and an ancient orchard. Most of the food that we supply to our guests is either grown on the farm, or sourced from neighbouring small holders. The area is rich in wildlife, and wild ducks, red kites, barn owls and bats can all be regularly seen at the farm. We even have a resident family of coutts on our pond. The Chilterns and the well-known Ridgeway path are perfect for walkers and cyclists. And for those that fancy a cultural day out, Oxford is within easy striking distance, along with many country houses, National Trust properties and other attractions, including Blenheim Palace, Grey’s Court, Claydon House, West Wycombe Estate and the Hell Fire Caves, Stonor Park, Waddesdon Manor, Bletchley Park, Clivedon and Hughendon Manor. Very close to the farm are the lovely market towns of Princes Risborough, Thame and Wendover, and we are not far from Marlow, Henley and Wallingford, where you can enjoy a boat trip on the Thames or a walk along the river. We are lucky to be close to some excellent pubs, restaurants and cafés and would be happy to recommend our favourites. And for the keen shoppers out there, Bicester Village is easily accessible by car or by train. The Farm is just an hour from central London by car, or a 5 minute taxi ride from Princes Risborough train station, which is itself a 40 minute train ride from London Marylebone. Princes Risborough now has a direct rail link to the centre of Oxford.
