Quaint, thatched, Grade II listed, C16th cottage in the centre of rural village, close to coast. Original slate floors (with rugs), low beamed ceilings, inglenook fireplace with electric heater. The cottage is comfortably furnished and overlooks village square. The kitchen, accessed via a listed wooden archway, overlooks the enclosed rear garden with seating and BBQ. The friendly village has a pub (dogs accepted), Community Shop, play area and walks. Ample parking adjacent to the cottage. Elm Tree Cottage offers 1 double, 1 twin, bathroom with bath and electric shower over (downstairs as with most cottages of this age), sitting room with dining area, inner hallway, kitchen. Beds are made up for your arrival. There is WiFi, TV (freeview), DVD, stereo, books and games. The kitchen has fridge-freezer, full size cooker, microwave, washing machine etc. A cot and highchair are available on request. The double and twin bedrooms are upstairs with an interconnecting door. There is an additional narrow spiral staircase to give separate access the twin room, giving all-adult parties privacy. The spiral staircase can be closed and locked at the top to prevent small children using it. There are low beamed ceilings, low doorways and changes in level. May not be suitable for the elderly, infirm or tall! Please enquire. Pets welcome by arrangement. There are plenty of dog walks locally and dog bins in the village. Please mention at time of booking. I live nearby so am available if guests need me, but leave them to enjoy their holiday undisturbed otherwise Quiet village with village shop, play area, churches, pub (no food but takeaways allowed to be eaten on the premises ), cafe/bistro serving cream teas, breakfasts, lunches (short walk), walks around village and along towpath to Bude, across cliffs to Widemouth Bay. Food deliveries available from Asda, Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsburys. Local takeaways deliver. Fish and chip van on Fridays. Il Forno Pizzas on Mondays July-September This is a 400+ year old cottage so ceiling heights are lower than modern ones but fine for most people. If you are over 6' this information will be helpful. Bedroom 1 and 2 ceilings 6'5", connecting doorway 5'6", bathroom 7'1", living room generally 6' with one low beam at 5'9". Doorways generally 5'9". Kitchen ceiling very high.
