The Old Bakery, minutes from the beach

The Old Bakery dates back to 1836 and lies at the heart of the coastal village of Stoke Fleming, outside Dartmouth. Set on the South West Coast Path, it is 15 minutes’ walk from the award-winning beach of Blackpool Sands and an ideal base from which to explore the South Hams and Dartmoor. The spacious accommodation features an open-plan living room and dining area, bedroom, panelled en-suite shower room and modern fully-fitted kitchen. Private parking is available at the back of the property. Occupying the ground floor of the main property, Albert House, the Old Bakery has its own private entrance which can be reached on foot via an alleyway off the main street. A parking space is set aside at the back of the property, a short walk along a gravelled path and down some steps across a cobbled courtyard. Once the village bakery, then a dairy and still a village shop as recently as the early 2000s, the property has been sympathetically converted to provide spacious accommodation. The 27ft living room is furnished with a double sofa-bed, armchairs, a table and benches for dining and a wood-burning stove. The bedroom has a super-king size bed which can be arranged as two singles on request. There is an ensuite shower room with basin, toilet and heated towel rail. Please note: guests using the sofa-bed will need to walk through the bedroom to reach the bathroom. The fully-fitted kitchen includes an electric hob and extractor fan, oven/grill/microwave combination, sink, integrated dishwasher and fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster, cupboards, kitchenware and utensils. Tea, coffee and milk are provided. There is a large flat-screen Freesat TV (Netflix available if using your own login details) , PlayStation 4 with a number of games and DVDs, plus a good selection of board games, books and magazines. There is superfast broadband internet access. There is a small table and a couple of chairs for sitting out in the summer months. The use of a washing machine is available on request. Cotton bed linen, duvets, towels, iron and a hairdryer are all provided. Visitors should bring their own beach towels. There is radiator central heating in the main living space and additional electric radiator in the bedroom, shower room and kitchen. Guests are welcome to use the wood-burning stove in the winter: please only use the wood provided. The property is double-glazed. There may be some traffic noise during the daytime, but the village is normally very quiet at night. Sorry, no smoking and no pets. Guests are given access to a key safe on arrival and are free to come and go as they please. We live next door and work from home, so can help with any advice and information. The Old Bakery is in the centre of the village, a short walk from all the amenities. There is a corner shop/Post Office across the road with a good selection of food, drink, newspapers and assorted items for the beach. The historic Green Dragon Inn is a couple of minutes' walk from your door, as is Radius 7, a wine bar and restaurant. The South West Coast Path runs through the village. We can recommend a number of circular walks nearby. The beach at Blackpool Sands is a 15-minute walk away. Historic Slapton Sands is a five-minute drive. There are regular buses from the village to Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Totnes. Take care when descending the steps to the courtyard which leads to the entrance of The Old Bakery as they are narrow and the cobbles in the yard are uneven!
