This grade listed; four-storey sandstone building was built in 1712 as a private dwelling. However, from 1746, the building was used as a place of worship by the Episcopalian congregation of the town. In the years after the Jacobite uprising it was illegal for Episcopalians to meet in larger numbers than five. The Reverend Alexander Greig conducted services in rooms in this building from 1746. It was later the home of Peter Christian, Sherriff-Clerk of Kincardineshire. Today the building is divided into private flats. On the harbour front there are three (3) restaurants; the Tollbooth, the Ship and the Marine. All are extremely popular during the summer months; therefore, booking is strongly advised. Famous food establishments are within a 15-minute walk; the Bay Fish & Chip shop and Aunty Bettys Ice Cream parlour.
