Tanglewood Cottage
Tanglewood Annexe is in the countryside, in a quiet lane near the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal. The Annexe overlooks a beautiful apple orchard. The property is only a few minutes drive or pleasant cycle / walk to Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge. Wild Cranes and Kingfisher can be heard and seen in the orchard and fields as well as a variety of other birds and wildlife. The property is within walking distance of two pubs, and a cafe and they provide good food, all day, including breakfast. The Annexe is self contained. Entry is via a handy porch area for muddy boots and coats. It has an open plan kitchen diner / lounge area with a dining table and comfortable sofa and arm chair. The property is a former milking parlour and all set on the ground floor which provides easy access for less mobile visitors. It has beautiful undisturbed views over an apple orchard from all rooms. The kitchen has been recently refurbished with shaker style units. There is an electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, washer dryer and a coffee machine. The lounge has a brand new Smart TV which allows access to freeview and streaming services. The property has WiFi and phone connection points. It has electric heating which is supported by solar panels situated on the property. There is a comfortable double bed bedroom with a cupboard and chest of drawers which leads to en-suite shower room and toilet. Outside is a personal parking space, and garden seats and table. We are around most of the day during the week. If you can’t see us, please text. We can provide suggestions for visits to local attractions. Also beautiful walks and access to nature spots. We love living in Slimbridge area because of the friendly neighbourhood and being surrounded by nature. The WWT centre is of course nearby, but birds and wildlife surround us at Tanglewood cottage. There is plenty of parking at the property with parking right next to the annexe. There are many opportunities for walking and cycling. Very close by are opportunities for fishing, canoeing, paddle boarding. The canal takes you to Slimbridge and Frampton on Severn by foot or bike. Bird and animal life can be shown to guests, if interested. The Cotswold countryside is very close. Tetbury is a 20 mins drive with antique shops and of course Highgrove Gardens, home to Prince Charles. Also South Wales and the Wye Valley are a 20 mins drive. More local is Berkeley Castle and Thornbury Castle. Walking, cycling, photography, canoeing and fishing interests are enjoyed virtually on our doorstep! An interest in nature and birds could also enhance your stay. And of course the Wetlands Trust is a wonderful interlude in the autumn and winter. Migratory birds flocking in! We also have a number of vintage tractors on our property for guests to view. Paddle boarding lessons locally too.
