A Night in Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary: Cabin 5
A night in the bush with the animals. Yes, you are allowed to explore after dark. Your cabin is actually in the sanctuary with the animals and, yes, you are allowed to explore at night. Unlike "zoo snooze" and other animal facility experiences, you are not confined to an "accommodation precinct" after dark. Yes you can explore the sanctuary after dark. We do require guests to stay on the tracks and to have a flashlight and mobile phone with them. Always have a buddy with you - this is the Australian bush and is not completely risk free. We will give you a safety briefing when you arrive, to keep you and the animals safe. I live on site and my mobile phone is always on. Call me if you need me. Our sanctuary is only 10 minutes by car from Gosford, but there is no public transport and there are no other places within walking distance. We lock the perimeter gates between 5pm and 8am, so bring everything you need to spend a night in your cabin and exploring the sanctuary. There is no public transport. You will need a car to get here. The only public transport alternative is a train to Gosford Station and then a very expensive (they can charge double because we're in the bush) 15 minute taxi ride to Calga. You will be staying over with the animals. We will give you information on how to interact safely with kangaroos and the other free-ranging animals, and how to make sure they enjoy meeting you just as much as you enjoy meeting them.
