Stylish, comfortable, 'petit' Chateau in Burgundy
Chateau d'Archambault is a beautiful, 'small' chateau dating from 1800 set in the hamlet of Cours just 1 km from the mediaeval city of Noyer-sur-Serein. Recently refurbished in an eclectic style and with lovely gardens it offers a perfect space for relaxation, culture, art and activities. Your hosts acquired the property in 2017 and enjoy handing the keys to guests who appreciate it as much as they do. More information is available on our website chat (Website hidden by Airbnb) (Events are currently not allowed) The château has around 480 square metres of ‘habitable space’. All has been restored and recently redecorated. Art and design lovers will enjoy the décor and eclectic combination of iconic pieces and attic finds. There is central heating throughout and two open wood burning fires on the ground floor. The ground floor is spacious, well organised and bright with mainly original parquet and stone floors and four interrelated reception rooms: the Salle à Manger with open fire (the two extendable tables available easily accommodate 20 diners), furnishing by Parisian post war designer Maurice Rinck; The Salon, furnished mainly in original Biedermeier sofa and pieces with large screen TV/satellite and open fire; the large Grand Salon and, the west facing Jardin d’hiver with underfloor heating and radiators. The ground floor is completed by a Hall with cloakroom and WC, fully equipped Kitchen (dual oven cooker with seven hobs and American style fridge freezer), and bright office with two desks and good download internet speeds. Upstairs the bedrooms are complemented by a well-stocked library and media room, utility room with washing machine, drying facilities and kitchenette and a second floor landing area that is especially suited to board game and jigsaw lovers. Guests will have access to the whole of the Chateau. There is a gite 100 metres away that is rented separately. If you wish to accommodate more people, the gite can comfortably house five. If we are not staying elsewhere locally we will ensure support is available for guests. The chateau is built on the site of a fortified farm. Cours includes a priory dating from the 15th century. Noyers-sur Serein is vibrant, rated as one of the most beautiful villages in France with plenty of restaurants and facilities and a mixed international community. The chateau is easily accessed by car, just 10km from the A6, 200km from Paris and 4-5 hours drive from Calais. There are good train connections to Paris via Tonnerre (2 hours) and Montbard (1 hours). Guests will need motor transport but the area is great for cycling and Noyers is a short walk from the chateau via a disused railway line.
