Woodland Cottage
Set between the Barossa and the Adelaide Hills wine districts with many wonderful wineries within easy reach, this European style log cottage on 20 tranquil acres allows you to see abundant wildlife and native plants - kangaroos, birds, ground orchids. 1km walking track on property, through natural bush settings. Other walking tracks in adjacent Mt Crawford Forest. Nearby towns of Birdwood and Mt Pleasant offer hotel meals, coffee shops and bakeries. Perfect place for a real Aussie experience. Kangaroos and a wide variety of native birds (rosellas, cockatoos, wrens, robins, honey eaters etc) surround the cottage and come close to feed. The cottage is independent of the main house and provides a private space in which to relax. Guests are free to use the walking track on the property and can access the extensive Mt Crawford Forest via the Mawson and Heysen Trails. Please note that there is no kitchen in the cottage but we do provide a kettle, toaster, fridge and microwave oven. Birdwood houses the National Motor Museum, worth a visit for motoring enthusiasts. As well as wonderful wineries and restaurants throughout the region, there are other hidden gems such as the Applewood gin distillery in nearby Gumeracha and a fabulous local market on Saturdays at Mt Pleasant. There is very little in the way of public transport available in this area. We have a number of large dogs (Irish Wolfhounds) - but these are kept in their own space. Guests should not interact with the dogs without our presence.
