The Garden Bungalows – each with their own garden – provide quiet and comfortable accommodations for 2 persons per house.House Pinta is aligned north-south with doors on both sides. The main room has a double-bed, table and chairs. Right next to this room is a corner kitchen with a refrigerator, electric tea kettle and 2 burners (for cooking). There’s a shower in the bathroom with a window facing north. House Pinta also offers an open fireplace ! The floors are natural stone and the ceilings of wood creating a warm and cozy atmosphere, in the winter, too! .You’ll be inhabiting traditional houses that are 300 years old and were used by the olive farmers for their harvesting. In 2015-16, they were turned into vacation homes with careful attention to their historic structure and much loving attention to detail, ensuring their rustic charm and individual character is retained. Each bungalow has about 30-40 m2 of floorspace. Each house has its own garden.This little vacation spot is a place of quiet and relaxation. Come visit and find out what exactly ‘peace & quiet’ is all about. By the same token, it’s an ideal spot for taking off on little trips to discover this diverse and attractive region. Makry-Gialos with its beaches, restaurants and stores is located on a cove just 25 km east of Ierapetra and ca. 32 km south of Sitia (the closest airport). Looking south you see the town and the Lybian sea,northwards the foothills of the Pefki mountains.These Garden Bungalows are located at the entrance to the Pefki Gorge in the Aspros Potamos valley making them ideal for taking trips around the area or exploring the several hiking paths, like the European long-distance path E4. The coastal town Makry-Gialos (‘long beach’) is located below the Garden Bungalows. This little fishing village and its harbor have managed to preserve its tranquil and authentic atmosphere despite a lengthy tourist tradition.Makry-Gialos offers: Restaurants, cafés, taverns (many with wonderful sea views) Supermarkets, shopping opportunities Shops with regional and organic products (olive oil, cheeses, honey, wine …) Post office / banks / tourist office Doctors / pharmacies The main beach in Makry-Gialos with its golden sand and crystal-clear water is perfect for kids: it’s easy to get into the water as the beach has a gentle grade, ideal for people who haven’t done a lot of swimming. Car rentals / taxis Bus terminal: buses to Koutsouras, Lithines, Ferma, Ierapetra and Sitia. Guests visiting us in the winter will have plenty of firewood waiting for them of course.
