Rustic Log Cabin Farm Stay...Kennedy’s Folly
Our beautiful log cabin, Kennedy's Folly, has character galore with a comfy queen size bed, open fire and views of the surrounding hills. Wineries, cafes and mountain walks all within a 10 minute drive. The Yarra Valley is a magnificent place to visit or stay. 'Kennedys Folly" This cabin was built over 100 years ago in the traditional manner but we have modernised it a bit but left a lot of character including wonky walls and the odd low roof. You do have to go outside under a verandah to access the bathroom but it too has been renovated and will not disappoint. There is tea & coffee making facilities, a fridge and a microwave for your use. There is also an electric frying pan and a bbq under the verandah if you wish. There is no stove or oven so please allow for that when planning your meals if you plan to stay in. The Cabin is quite close to the main house but it is still very quite private and it opens away from the house. We live on seven acres with a few sheep, goats, dogs and cat along with the odd kangaroo, blue-tongued lizards and lots of bird life. Guests are more than welcome to wander around and visit the animals or just relax under the shade of a gum tree with a good book and a glass of wine. The Kelpies , Benson, Banjo and Gidget will be the first animal to greet you and they will ensure we know you have arrived. The cat, Tiger will make him self known and is very friendly and loves a pat, also loves to drape himself around your shoulders. There is also a hen house full of chooks and a noisy rooster who will be your wake up call. If you come at the right time of year there might be a lamb or two available for cuddles. Normally we will be home when we have guests to stay but will leave you to your own devices if that is what you want. Guests can determine the amount of interaction they would like, with both humans and animals. The Yarra Valley has some of Australia's best wineries, greatest scenic views and lush National Parks. Great cafes and restaurants, country pubs and then go for a walk along the Yarra or the Warburton Trail to work it off. Variety abounds with giant Manna Gums or lovely waterfalls and the beautiful Yarra River. Warburton is a 10 minute drive, Healesville is 20 minutes and Yarra Glen only 1/2 hour. Trains to Lilydale regularly and then buses along the Warburton Highway. Ideally visitors to the Yarra Valley would have their own car We are about 2 kms out of town so you will require a car to get around, (unless your very fit). Gary has garden sculptures all throughout our garden and some are for sale. If you find a piece that grabs you please just speak to us about it.
