Our two gites, dating back to 15th century, have been completely restored, tradition and modern comfort, swimming pool The Abbey is of the XII til XVth century. Our two gites, dating back to 15th century, have been completely restored, providing a good balance between French tradition and modern comfort, enhancing the spirit of your holiday. The gites are located by the outdoor swimming pool and entry to the private estate is through the main automatic gates. Each gite has a private parking space within the communal area, ensuring secure parking for your peace of mind. The gites, La Porterie, and Le Grenier A Grains are of different sizes, have individual gardens and the Abbaye, as a romantic backdrop, ensures harmony and privacy. As a holiday destination, there is so much to see. We will offer you a guided tour of the estate where you may also visit the tomb of Yul Brynner; the glamour of Hollywood in rural France! We, Christine and Marc-Oliver, welcome you to our unique home. We live on the estate and will be available to greet you on arrival and assist you daily if required. We speak fluent English yet will be happy to develop your French. Historically, La Porterie was the home of the St Benedict 'brother porter'. As an important elder, his role was to 'preserve the security for the monks to walk freely'. As door keeper, he had to respond to the 'old sound' and greet visitors 'Dea Gratias, with charity and the sweetness of the fear of God'. La Porterie has been passionately restored to offer luxurious accommodation, a mix of traditional features with modern comfort. Decorative stone elements have been exposed, fireplace, huge oak beams, arches, tiles, all create a fantastic ambience. Within this structure, the fitted kitchen, with central island is well equipped and the lounge is stylish with atmospheric lighting and sofa bed. The open plan staircase leads to a double bedroom with en suite stunning, shower room, with top class fitting and a huge steam shower. A mezzanine offers further space for luggage and storing gifts for the people who have missed the opportunity to visit! A private garden and parking space makes this a dream vocation in a Romanesque Abbaye. Believed to originate from XV, Le Grenier à Grains' connected the interior courtyard to the outdoor courtyard of the monastery'. Lovingly restored, this gite retains interior shutters, oak lintels, tiles and stone walls. The modern kitchen is well equipped with a central island and the lounge has a small 'salon' to the side. The circular staircase leads to the mezzanine double bedroom, bathroom and second double bedroom. Here, stone and very heavy timbers revive the historic atmosphere. The spacious feel created internally is echoed outside where a private garden leads to the undercover parking space, communal space and outdoor swimming pool.
