Limoges is only 20 minutes away. If you want to move around and do shopping, a car is needed It’s a village in the process of change; with Les Musée et Jardin Cécile Sabourdy taking their places in, and near to the old presbytery in 2015. It houses a permanent painting exhibition, featuring the work of the local artist Cécile Sabourdy. It also puts on other painting exhibitions, and regularly offers activities to the public. In the heart of the village: there’s a Romano-Gothic church, which houses a crèche (a nativity scene in wood) from the seventeenth century; and, not far away, there is an unusual type of well. As you take the road, from our house towards Vicq, you’ll find the Chapelle des Chauveix (15th and 18th centuries). Inside you’ll find a modern fresco by Roch Popelier, a local artist, which illustrates the life of Saint François d'Assise. Vicq has its own castle, Le Vieux Château, which over-looks the village centre; there’s also the Château de Traslages, which is closer to Pierre-Buffière. In Vicq: there’s a restaurant - Lo Vinataud – which is open for lunches on weekdays. On Friday evenings, from June to September, it serves moules/frites (mussels and chips). There’s a boulangerie nearby, and so too the village shop Le petit Breuilh, a good place for tea. Five Marchés de Pays bring a rhythm to the village, from June to August, on Thursday evenings. You can also take a ‘signed’ walk, of 14 km, if you want to wander through our verdant countryside. For those fond of swimming there are many lakes in the vicinity. There’s l'étang de Masseret, for the Summer; or l'Aquapolis, an Olympic swimming pool (of architectural interest) alongside the A20, towards the north of Limoges.
