Casa Aurora is in Carrapateria & is described as the prettiest village in unspoiled western Algarve with beautiful beaches .The house has been modernised to provide spacious open plan accomodation with 2 shower rooms (1 w bath) for 2 adults and 1/2 children . Welcome to Casa Aurora Carrapateira is approximately 90 minutes from Faro (EMAIL HIDDEN) and easily accessed via the toll motorway . We use Economy car hire but all the major rental companies are based there . We pay €20 when picking up the car to cover the toll costs. There is a cash machine in Carrapateira cultural club . Vilo da Bispo and Aljezur have banks and ATM's and petrol stations . When you arrive in Carrapateira you can park in the square . You will see café Bravo with red brollies and Irene's supermarket . There are a set of steps in between café Bravo and the Karra surf shop . Head up these steps until you get to the top …that is where the church is and our address is 4 Rua D'Igreja( ie 4 church street !) You will see that there is parking much closer to the house . You will have our map , the Algarve beach guide in the drawer . Our son Jamie made a comprehensive guide to the area for a friend which you will also find in the drawer . We have 3 beach towels , parasol and beach chairs etc . There is a hairdryer ( and straighteners should you need them !) There is a dishwasher (45 degree setting ) and washing machine( rapido setting ) . There is a tourist information board in the square, leaflets in the house and a tourist information office in Aljezur . Food, beer and wine : Irene’s ( run by Elizabet ) in the square is great , open Monday - Saturday . If you require a bigger shop head to Vila do Bispo for Lidl or Aljezur where there is a supermarket ..Intermarche ( go right through the town , round bend , across bridge and turn left at the round about . Car park for Intermarche is on your right . There is also a market in Aljezur near the bridge ..interesting . Drinking and eating In the square : Cafe Bravo for authenticity and great galaos..Microbar has great salads , burgers etc The Quiosque also has good food . Closest restaurant food is Cabrita .. It closes on a Wednesday . Go down steps to the square and turn right out of the village . Walk for about 5 minutes passing a surf shop and windmill on your left and a set of traffic lights . Turn next left after the traffic lights … You should see Cabrita . Keep on the same road as Cabrita …nice restaurant after bend in road …O sitio …closed on Tuesdays Head up hill with gorgeous beach on your right Bordeira .( * ) You can drive slowly over the rough road across the clifftops …its worth it …keep on the same road …you’ll come to restaurant on your right O fornio …fab views . On your way to Vila Do Bispo look out for the opening on your left to Pedralva …if you drive there ( about 10mins ) you will come to a popular Pizza restaurant Some nice restaurants in Vila Do (URL HIDDEN) favourite is Ribeira do Poço ( * there is also a village called Bordeira on the way to Aljezur. ) Beaches : You will find information about many of the beaches in the beach book and the local map in the drawer. Borderia and Amado are the local beaches Amado is surfer heaven ! You can hire a board for an hour for 15€ and for 3 hours for €30 Our favourites are Bordeira ( visible from gardens below the church ) and Amoreira . To get to Armoreira drive past Intermarche in Aljezur and turn left at the local swimming pool . The road goes on for ages but worth it …good restaurant at the car park called Paraiso del Mar and the beach is brilliant …lots of dunes and then a river at the far end . Before you get to Aljezur there are also signs for Arrifana and Monte Clerigo ..both nice beaches with cafes and worth the drive .Head south to Vila do Bispo and follow the signs for Praias : Praia da Cordoma and Praia do Castelejo are nice and both have restaurants on the beach . . Shopping : Non existent ! …however Lagos is good but park the car on edge of town and walk…fabulous beach If the weather is overcast / cool , head to the south coast ( 20 mins ) Enjoy ! Alison & Andy
