Located in the beautiful Devon countryside with a fine stretch of the River Exe running through the grounds, Bickleigh Castle is the perfect retreat for all seasons. The picturesque location has inspired many a writer, poet, artist and historian and it really does take you away from everything. With acres of gardens and grounds to roam, a 'secret garden' with an orchard and pond, a moat plus a beautiful chapel and Castle, there is plenty of space for you to explore. We also have an excellent hard Tennis Court, and plenty of space for an informal game of cricket or football. For a relaxing end to the day, why not jump into our Hot Tub and relax with the bird song and wildlife all around? We are very conveniently located just 20 minutes from Exeter and Crediton and only 10 minutes from Tiverton. We are easily reached from Tiverton Parkway and Exeter St Davids Railway Stations. Whatever the reason, each guest is guaranteed the most perfect stay " All guest areas can be accessed, including the gardens, grounds and recreational facilities and the various Reception rooms in the Castle and other areas. There are, however, a few private areas which may not be used. Guests booking through Airbnb will have exclusive use of the estate with the exception of the private areas; the estate will not be open to the public during a private exclusive use booking. There is a very large amount of free parking, and, by arrangement, some garage space can be made available for special vehicles such as Classics. We will keep as high or low a profile as required. Usually we lay on some degree of hosting. Staff, as mentioned elsewhere, are available. Bickleigh Castle is in a particularly beautiful and unspoilt area of the Exe Valley, yet only 8 miles from Exeter, 4 miles from Tiverton, 9 miles from the M5 (Junction 27) and 30 mins drive from Exeter Airport. The Exe Valley may shortly be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is an excellent range of eating places in the area. It is probably best to come by car, or hire a minibus for the duration. However, if coming by public transport, there are good train services to Tiverton (2 hrs from London)and Exeter St Davids, and frequent bus services. The area of the Castle is suitable for walking, cycling, and kayaking on our river. For fishing you require proper equipment and clothing. We can arrange for you horse riding and clay pigeon shooting. VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: The listing is for 16 people but we can accommodate up to 40 ; the amount quoted is ONLY for 16 people therefore, and any additional people are charged on a per head basis. Furthermore, the quoted price is for self-catering. We can, however, provide full or part hotel services if required, at additional cost.
