Merino Cafe Accommodation

This two bedroom apartment is located in the beautiful historic London House, established in 1870. The apartment is positioned on the main street of Gunning NSW, above the Merino Café. Its arched coach entrance makes this building a feature of Yass Street. The apartment is private, fully self-contained, and has a large smart TV and Wi-Fi. We have a fully equipped kitchen with Nespresso machine. A stairway is the only access to the space. We are located 45 minutes north of Canberra. PLEASE NOTE: The Café trades from 7am to 4pm seven days a week. Because the apartment is directly above the café, café noise may be heard during these hours. The apartment is open plan living and dining. This beautiful historic building was established in 1870, so structural renovations were limited. Due to this, the ceiling height in the bathroom is low. Its one of her quirky little features that makes her a little different. However, a basin, vanity and mirror are also located in the toilet area for guests over 6ft 3ins (190cm). We provide all linen, towels, pillows and blankets along with a well stocked pantry with your everyday cooking items and condiments. The apartment has a washing machine, full size fridge, oven, microwave, smart TV, DVD player and WIFI. We also have a selection of DVD's and board games. We love the space we have created for our guests and we ask that you leave our little apartment as you found it, clean and tidy. Please call or text anytime with questions. I'm happy to help. Our local country pub and bistro are located right next door, so you don’t have far to go for dinner or a few drinks. Just a couple of doors up you could try the very popular Gunning Butcher Shop for a selection of dinner ideas. The local Service Station, also only a short stroll has a mini mart with a great range of groceries and fresh produce. The Merino Cafe is open from 7am daily for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea and is a must stop for their selection of delicious homemade slices, cakes and freshly baked scones. Closed some public holidays. Murrumbateman is approximately 30 minute drive and is home to an array of wineries and vineyards. The Poachers Pantry Smokehouse Restaurant and Vineyard is a 40 minute drive and is a perfect place to have lunch while exploring the wine district. Grazings Restaurant in Gundaroo is a 25 minute drive where you can also enjoy wine tasting at The Gundog Cellar Door, next door to the restaurant. Cork St Cafe also located in Gundaroo and is best known for its pizza! Some Cafe in Collector is a 20 minute drive. You could also head next door for wine tasting at Collector Wines. A 45 minute drive is the town of Laggan where you will find Laggan Pantry, a modern Australian restaurant that uses fresh produce directly from their farm. Yass is a 20 minute drive where you can explore a range of boutique shops and cafes. Other beautiful spots are Tallagandra Winery, Old Saint Luke’s Gallery and Alpaca Magic! (Alpaca Farm). You could book breakfast with the Alpacas and Llamas or go on a guided walk through the picturesque countryside with these exotic animals. Be sure to check all opening times before venturing out. IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE: We would like you to note before you travel your dinner options: For dinner options our local petrol station sells some food supplies for home cooking, they are open until 7pm. The Bistro which is located next door to the accommodation in our country pub serves meals until 8pm. If you are travelling from Sydney direction the last stop for a Woolworths on your way into Gunning is in Goulburn. If you are travelling from Melbourne direction your last stop for a Woolworths on your way into Gunning is in Yass. The Merino Cafe located below the accommodation is open from 7am everyday, excluding some public holidays serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, homemade cakes, slices, tea and coffee. The kitchen is fully equipped for home cooking.
