Frog Hollow in Coledale
We have loved our experience so much interacting with the Air BNB community through our property in Darlinghurst that we have decided to open up our own home to Air BNB guests in Coledale, a seaside village South of Sydney and North of Wollongong. The apartment (which we have named Frog Hollow) is newly renovated and has a new large bathroom with a gorgeous bath and rain water shower, a dedicated bedroom with queen sized luxurious bed looking towards the ocean, a combined living area with all the mod cons (music system and smart TV, Netflix, DVD etc) facing the escarpment and a new kitchenette with microwave, and assorted electrical goods (Frying pan , kettle, toaster, sandwich maker, two burner hotplate etc.) . It also contains a decent sized fridge and for a longer stay your own combined washing machine dryer. The name Frog Hollow reflects some of the inhabitants on our property that we have encouraged to set up home who depending upon the season and the weather are able to provide a cacophony of magical background sounds on many evenings. This apartment is small and cozy but very well appointed and is set up as being best suited to those looking for a romantic getaway as a couple although there is also a trundle which would accommodate a child comfortably. We supply all your linen (including beach towels) simple toiletries and a combination of simple breakfast items . Your kitchen contains all the simple condiments you require as well as a few items to ensure that no matter what time you arrive you were able to have a snack …supported by a few surprises awaiting you in your fridge. Welcome to Frog Hollow – we hope you enjoy your stay. We have created a totally independent air conditioned one bedroom apartment with its own entrance and exit in the footprint of our home which we refer to as the blue house in paradise. We are happy to meet and greet and then leave you very much to your own devices and allow you to have a totally independent experience - BUT if you need us - or need some advice - you are most welcome to knock on our door - or ring us - and we are there for you. We are 200 mts from Coledale beach (which is a fully patrolled beach from the start of the September school holidays till the end of the April school holidays) and a short walk (which we do every day with our dogs) to Sharky's beach which is an off leash dog friendly beach. Coledale is a beautiful beach side village located 18 klms north of the Wollongong Central Business district and one hours south of the Sydney CBD accessed by the spectacular Grand Pacific Drive via the stunning Sea Cliff Bridge. It has an eclectic, welcoming and warm community largely containing people with shared values of love and respect of the environment within which we are lucky enough to live. All the essentials are within walking distance i.e. a well-equipped general store / newsagent, a community loved R.S.L. which provides lunches and dinners over weekends, a couple of wonderful and loved restaurants/ cafes a small home wares store a fish and chips shop , a beautician and a well-stocked bottle shop. A longer walk away is the New Headland hotel which has breakfast lunch and dinner seven day a week (and a courtesy bus to make sure you get home safe :) :) A full selection of dining options also exist in nearby Austinmer and Thirroul, across a number of cuisines . Coledale Beach is bordered north and south by rocky outcrops that protect the beach from the worst of the weather, as well as offering excellent fishing spots. The beach is a great surfing spot, with the right conditions offering nice right and left hand breaks. Coledale Beach is a great location to enjoy the beach, swim, surf, fish, and dive or just sit back, enjoy the views and sound of the surf. Regular visits by dolphins playing just off the beach and close views of migrating humpback and southern right whales just add to the experience. The other local centres of Austinmer, Thirroul, Wombarra, Scarbarough , Stanwell Park and Bulli are great to swim, surf, shop, eat, drink or browse amongst the galleries and boutiques. Coledale is well serviced both from Sydney and the south coast by city rail trains and with regular local bus services (Greens buses). It is just a 10min walk to Coledale rail station for direct lines north to Sydney and south to Wollongong, Kiama and Nowra. Things to do in Coledale - apart from the obvious water activities…Walk walk walk, both planned walks and unplanned walks. Planned and popular walks include the Sublime Point Lookout track the Gibson track and the Panorama track – and more unplanned walks include walking from Coledale along the coast to Thirroul (about 50 mins) and walking from our apartment along the coast to the Seacliff Bridge and back – about 1.5 hours.
